June 6, 2014 at 9:45 am #198536I need to renew my licence. Just needed to clarify. Do Joomlart Magneto 1.8 themes work with magento 1.9?
Is it best to install the Quick Start 1.8, then upgrade the magento 1.9 after this,
OR is it better to install magento 1.9 first and manually install the 1.8 template theme?TomC ModeratorTomC

June 6, 2014 at 3:43 pm #538087No guarantee that 1.8 based themes will work flawlessly with a 1.9 install.
You can certainly try it out – but can’t guarantee it will work without a hitch.

June 6, 2014 at 4:23 pm #538097Hmmm… So I guess its going to take Joomlart another 6 months to update the magento templates. The last batch from 1.7 to 1.8 took that long. (Nov 2013 through to April 2014).
Could joomlart not give an idea of what we would need to change in a 1.8 compatible template to bring it up to 1.9 compatibility? You did that for a 1.7 to 1.8 and that helped a lot.

Plus you have a post recommending upgrade to 1.9

June 6, 2014 at 4:31 pm #538098The best way to keep your Magenta system up-to-date is to keep your corresponding JA license up-to-date. That will solve all your problems.

Alex

June 6, 2014 at 4:43 pm #538101I am definitely going to update my licence as I have been using Joomlart for the past 4-5 years. And during that period everyone I encountered on Joomlart was incredibly polite and helpful. BUT… your answer does not make sense. Keeping the licence up to date will not answer the simple question I asked. Unless you are saying that by renewing the licence ‘all problems will be solved’ includes the question about 1.9. IF as you imply, there are solutions within the closed forums , then simply tell me and I will renew today. Otherwise just say Tom is correct, and I will understand.

June 9, 2014 at 7:06 am #538278As Tom said, there’s simply no guaranteer that our Magento 1.8 themes will work flawlessly with Magento 1.9.
We are now working to upgrade all our current themes to Magento 1.9, it is recommended you wait for our official version before upgrading to avoid any unexpected incompatibility.
