sometimes if i click on your demopage this article: Rachel Beckwith’s Mom Visits Ethiopia

on different positions like “home-10” i get Magz Media Blog Layout with the black background. sometimes not.

if i select on my homepage in an article content type “” video,i always get Magz Media Blog Layout with the black background and JA Disqus Debate Echo is not working.

if i select “text” in the article content type, i get normal layout and JA Disqus Debate Echo is working.

what could be the problem?

it is not so easy to read a lot of text with the black background. for videos and pictures it is very nice, but not for articles who have also a video included.

Hi hariorama,

Now you understand that, the Video/Photo content type will show in a black background layout and the Text content type was not. So you should consider which article should be set to Video/Photo content type and which article set to Text content type.

For the Disqus, you can config the plugin in Plugin Manager.
We have removed those Video/Gallery cateogries by default. You can add those categories back.

i tought, that if i choose in articel the video content type, i will get only the icon without the black background, so the readers on the frontpage knows, that in these articles (content is king) is something special included (like a video or audio). is there another way, to get this icons on the pictures ?

also on your demo page on the frontpage, i can see the video icon by the article Rachel Beckwith’s Mom Visits Ethiopia but then when you klick the article, you get sometimes normal layout without the black background. .

as for the discus: it is assigned to the categories requested, but not showing up, when there is black background. in normal layout it works in the same categories.

maybe it is an issue with intensedebate.com

Hi hariorama,

The normal background on Rachel Beckwith’s Mom Visits Ethiopia may cause from the problem with the cache system.
We will try to fix it.

It is hard for me to view it on our demo.

JA Magz only supports disqus. And I see it work well on our demo too.

It will be a lot of customization to make the white background for the video/photo content type.

it makes the difference if you chose in discus plugin position after content or after display content. if you chose after content you get the plugin everywhere but with a big distance to “You make also like”.

Hi hariorama,

I am not sure but the white space may cause by the equalheight function. (min-height: …px).
In fact, I do not see the problem as yours when I visit your site.

Additionally, the “You make also like” block is placed at bottom in full width. So if your sidebar is taller than the content, you will see a white space between your article content and the “You may also like” block.

For the JA Disqus Debate Echo plugin, if you choose afterContent position, and your article have pagebreak, it will only show at the last pagebreak. It is really an issue, we will fix it in our plugin.
