Hi
This is my first post having just discovered Joomla. I am in the process of building a website for my local football/soccer team. I havent put anything online yet as im still in the planning stages and trying things with JA Purity template all I have so far managed to do is what I have found from the sticky tutorial about customizing the template.Having followed this I am now at the point where I want to create a new main menu something similar to the menu on this site http://www.swindon-town-fc.co.uk/ or like the Bullet List Accordion Menu with nested levels from this site http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex17/ddaccordionmenu-bullet.htm
Any help would be most appriciated

January 18, 2009 at 11:25 pm #287011First of all, the Joomla main menu is always on top,. there may be ways to simple remove the horizontal menu from the template but whenever you look on any site there is, there is mostly always a horizontal main menu in place.
An accordion menu like you desire, similar to the one from DynamicDrive may be available as extensions to Joomla. Those you should be able to set on whatever menu you want. Those pull the menu content from the menu you create in the admin (upper left) for your side menu as soon you configure the module to display this particular menu.
The design sijmilar to the one of the example page you could mostly always implement also into other accordion menus out there, this should be possible with the right CSS styling.
The best to do will be to look over the Joomla Extensions Directory at http://extensions.joomla.org and to find the right menu you need. There are some accordion menus that are available free of charge while some other may cost money.
I do not know any specific module right now, and I also think to check the JED for the right one is the best way. Maybe some other members have some direct link to some fitting module but I would still first review all the available ones out there to avoid that you spend time with one and later figure out there is another one that even fits your needs better…
Much success and enjoyment with your project!
February 19, 2009 at 7:07 pm #292570I found an ‘accordion menu’ for my site and it works pretty well but I havent yet figured out how to tweak certain things (like the alignment of the open/close buttons for example).
It is found on that extensions section as posted above. -
