Hi I would like the main menu on the left hand side to display different links than the top menu. At the moment it seems to be duplicating the menu links twice

June 10, 2008 at 2:22 am #252816Every day I find something else in Joomla! that makes so much sense that I was making harder than it needed to be… This is one of those moments… Thanks for the insight, perfect to what I needed to know.

I would also like to use the menus as two separate ones but I’m sorry I don’t understand how to achieve that from your answer.

June 14, 2008 at 11:36 pm #253577Try unpublishing the Main Menu module, then publish the Other Menu to Left position and add the other menu items to it.
The template seems to display Main Menu items in the upper position, even without Main Menu being published itself.
Cloning didn’t work for me in this case.
Cheers.

June 15, 2008 at 10:18 am #253651Thank you! That did the trick! 🙂
Unfortunately the top menu doesn’t display active menu, only rollover. Do you know if this has any connection with the menu being unpublished or if I can fix it somehow?
June 15, 2008 at 10:49 am #253653And there is also one more thing that I think is related to this fix: the menu that is still in position left doesn’t work anymore. I have tried to fix this by changing position on the main menu (so it won’t be in left anymore) but that doesn’t fix it.
I have also tried to hide the main menu with the css rather than by unpublishing the module but that also didn’t fix the links in the left menu.I hope someone has an idea… (http://flygfisken.emoc.se)

June 15, 2008 at 2:34 pm #253690you can’t use the default split menu type if you want to do this. Change your menu choice to anything but, I forget the choices, I think it was moo, sos, or dropline.. Then create a new menu item and publish it to the left.

June 15, 2008 at 2:47 pm #253695I have installed the qick fix version of joomla with the iris template and sample content locally to see all prefixes and settings. That worked fine and now I can compare my site with the local installation and make it right.
