September 24, 2011 at 8:15 am #168895Hi,
Just started exploring 1.7 and wanted to confirm a difference that was noticed. In 1.5 it is not required to create a module and assign it to the main menu to display mega menu, dropline, etc… But in 1.7 it appears that you must assign a module to the main menu to display menu, dropline, etc…Is this a correct observation and how 1.7 normally behaves?
Thanks for the clarification.

September 24, 2011 at 10:17 am #414626Hi
I think you have some confuse. I’ve tried w/ J1.7 and menu working as same as 1.5.
It’s require any specific module to do / works w/ menu.
May i know what are you trying to do ?
Thank you

September 24, 2011 at 4:00 pm #414674Trying to setup a new main menu. On a brand new install, for the main menu on 1.7 it looks like one must asign a module position to get the main menu to display menu items. On a brand new 1.5 install no module is required to achieve the same. Looked around for some docs online to better understand the changes in 1.7, but have not found anything yet.

September 25, 2011 at 12:17 am #414760It’s not the live site. It’s how the BE works in 1.7 vs 1.5.
Install a clean version of 1.7 with no sample data, then add a template. Then add menus to the main menu and you will see what I mean.

Hey There . . . So are you simply trying to add a module to a menu item within your mega menu?Or are you trying to select the particular menu style you want to use (i.e. mega, dropline, css, etc.)

September 26, 2011 at 7:14 pm #415127Neither. It’s an observation/confirmation about how 1.7 is different to 1.5 in this area. Also looks like a bunch of new module classes too. All sorts of surprises.
