January 2, 2010 at 1:59 pm #147248I really like JA Teline, but I have two major issues with JA Thumbnail that make it difficult to use JA Teline III and similar templates in production.
The first issue is its incompatibility with JCE Editor. As previous posters have written on this forum, JCE Editor and JA Thumbnail do not get along. The caption information contained in a <div> tag with an image does not get resized (or the text does not wrap) when the photos are resized by JA Thumbnail.
The solution offered by tienhc in http://www.joomlart.com/forums/showthread.php?p=158669 to toggle the editor is not an acceptable workaround.
The caption information does not need to be present on a section/blog category/blog layout. Both mod_janews2 and mod_janews_fp leave out the caption information when resizing the photos. Why can’t JA Thumbnail be rewritten to leave out the caption information or give an option to leave it out when it is resizing for section/blog category/blog layout?
My second issue with JA Thumbnail is that it won’t resize a photo if it is below the “<hr id=”system-readmore” />” tag. Again for both JA News2 and JA News FP, the photos are resized even if they are below the readmore tag.
JCE Editor is the most widely used editor in Joomla. Your templates have to be compatible with it.
If you can address these two issues in JA Thumbnail, then I would give JA Teline III two thumbs up. Otherwise, to me at least, it’s still a work in progress.
Thanks.

January 2, 2010 at 4:21 pm #327976I also use JCE Editor, and in Editor Configuration I set Force Container Element to Paragraph, then, when I upload photo in article, set left or right alignment, I only have to delete dimensions of the photo and plugin works fine.

January 2, 2010 at 4:27 pm #327977I think I may have a solution, though the caption is no longer underneath the photo.
Instead of inserting the caption with the insert/edit caption button at the top of the JCE editor, I use the insert/edit image with the star next to it.
I can set the alignment for either right or left, and I put the caption in the JCE popup utility. (you need to have the JCE utilities installed for this to work)
When you click on the magnifying glass it pulls up the photo (similar to Lightbox/Slimbox or Rokbox, which you can use as well) with the caption underneath.
This seems to get around the issue of JA Thumnails not working right with JCE’s caption editor, though I’d still much rather have my captions underneath the photos, rather than having to pull them up the the popup.
I still consider this an open issue -
