I’m relatively new. I have also done my homework (I think). I’ve read many tutorials on line, including Tutorials at Beauty in Design, as well as those suggested by ShannoN. I’ve read the Senecio User manual. I have correctly uploaded the template. I can’t figure out how to make appear the bottom User modules.
As an experiment, I went into Modules > Site Modules. I scrolled down to Popular, which usually appears in the top area, like say, User4. Instead I changed the position User 8. It just disappears entirely. There must be some way – probably simple that I’m not understanding – to “turn on” or make appear those bottom modules at their usual positions.
Ideas?

May 20, 2007 at 9:06 am #220429You have user6,7,8,9,10 at the bottom there.
Have you tried some other positions?
And did you check in the backend that you have the module to show on all pages.
Check the screenshot i attached.Try to set it up like that.
And do you have an url for us?swemmel Friendswemmel

May 20, 2007 at 12:00 pm #220447Hi David,
As I understand, you did put Popular into user8-position. That’s ok. It seems to mee that you forgot to publish it. (Published: Yes No).
Kind Regards,
PeterMay 21, 2007 at 3:44 am #220514Thanks for the suggestions. So far no luck. Attached is a screen shot of the Site Modules Manager. You can see that “Popular” is published and is set up for All.
The website is http://www.gentlecurrents.com/newattitude/
Any feedback appreciated. “Popular” module should appear at the page bottom in User6. No luck so far. I’m convinced there’s some way to “turn on” a module like User 6 and I just haven’t managed to figure it out yet.
Ideas? Thanks to all. ~David

May 21, 2007 at 7:21 am #220524Try to publish another module in that position. Try with the Log In module and set same parameters as you did on the Popular one. And give us a answer.
Or, go to adminpanel Module>Site Modules>Popular and check the settings on it.
Try to set it up as i did on the picture attached.swemmel Friendswemmel

May 21, 2007 at 7:58 am #220526Hi David,
It seems to me that Infinite-menu’s (don’t know what it is) break up the template. Maybe try to unpublish this one and see what happen.
Kind Regards,
Peter.May 22, 2007 at 1:35 am #220581🙂 The suggestion that the Infinity menu system might be the problem proved out. Let me explain (this may be useful to others).
When getting started in Joomla before I even discovered, let alone subscribed to Joomlart, I downloaded a number of modules, in particular different kinds of menu systems. dTree was one. The Infinity menu system was another. As I say, these were all pre-Joomlart and, therefore, pre-Transmenu. At the time I didn’t know what I was going to need for a menu system or where I’d ultimately find it.
In exploring the Senecio template, I decided to just try to publish all the modules that I had, pretty much to see how the whole thing would lay out. But when I published the Infinity menu system, it showed some kind of error message. Since I wasn’t trying to actually use that menu system, but was just trying to see how everything would lay out, it never occurred to me that the Infinity menu system would be problematic. It was.
I am not only unpublishing but deleting Infinity and dTree (and anything else that I decide might be at issue). This experience does raise the issue, though, about modules and components, so-called extensions to Joomlart. How are we to know which extensions are sympatico with the Joomlart template system and which are not. But that’s for another thread. In the mean time my thanks to swemmel, ShannoN, and all who contributed to the ultimate solution. Community-based computing works!
PS I’ve attached a screen shot, showing Search in one of the bottom User Modules. Check the site to see how it actually looks: http://www.gentlecurrents.com/newattitude

Hi David
You raise a good point, it’s virtually impossible to know or test every module thats out there, even ones commonly used can fail for many reasons and upon inspection a large number of these failures isn’t the Joomlart template, but 3rd party modules, the need for some ppl to must have Joomla 1.5 running 🙂 or bad customisation or lack of Joomla skillsI guess its fair to say keep an eye on the forums here and you’ll hear other ppls experiences with modules.
Take care yourself when trying to adapt a template to your needs, be sensible don’t be too radical in the changes you make.
I think sensible template selection is important rather than radical alterations to make older templates like Hadar look and perform like Rochea etc.
If you need a template with a right menu system, find one that already has it don’t try to change the design to suit what has not been designed into it.
If you don’t have a need for a module don’t use it, simple is best, we know some customisation for individuality is necessary, but keep it to the original layout and design, it saves sweat and tears later
