    Hi 🙂

How-to make my own blocks and positions?

In “templateDetails.xml” there is different positions
    (eg <position>breadcrumbs</position>).

But I need to make my own position
    (eg <position>Front_A1</position>

But what is the next step, to make this work???

And yes, the last step is to style the new block in “template.css”:
    (eg: #Front_A1 { position: absolute; top: 200px; left: 200px; height: 200px; width: 200px; background: #ccc; } )

    Thanks: FLJE

I think it’s pretty well covered in the customisation notes (from inside Jooma, open template manager, then the template, then the update and help tab).

I’m just starting, but I’ve managed to create positions and modify blocks. Note that positions are defined in the layout files, not in templateDetails.xml.
I learnt about this because there is a bug in the current template (well, in the version I started with).
    This post may help: http://www.joomlart.com/forums/showthread.php?65980-left-position-is-not-defined-in-default-layout

When you create new positions you can add them to templateDetails.xml, it won’t hurt. That xml is used only to define the list of possible positions for the position selector option in Module Manager.

Not to mention this handy dandy resource –> JoomlArt Wiki – Introducing Layouts and Blocks[/url]
