December 8, 2007 at 6:17 pm #234175We don’t test our template on Mambo, so I cannot answer your question directly. However, Mambo and Joomla 1.0x have the same core, therefore, the template work on Joomla 1.0x should work on Mambo. Why don’t you make a test, even with our free templates.
December 9, 2007 at 4:11 am #234222Thanks for your reply Khanh Le,
I knew I could goad an answer out of some-one.
Would it be hard to make your templates mambo friendly – Joomla Shack are opening up a mambo dedicated site – Mamboshack. They realize that the market for mambo templates and components is on the rise following the license mayhem that happened over at joomla. A mambo template club might well be worth looking at … just a thought

That is all political, not much more.
December 9, 2007 at 1:26 pm #234244I don’t really care whether it’s political or not. I’m the one effected by all this – I have components that won’t be supported by Joomla any more as the author has moved to support Mambo. All I want are templates and as I cannot write my own I’ll need to buy them. Simple.

December 10, 2007 at 4:31 pm #234314Hi,
I have found thus far, in usng with EZ Realty….they plan to work only with Mambo in the future…they use JA-Rochea in demo…..I found that JA-Iris works with Mambo but JA-Xenia does not. I’ve been looking for a template that has a modular in the middle.
P.S. – I just found out I have trouble with JA-Rocheamyronlee Friendmyronlee

December 11, 2007 at 8:24 pm #234400Regarding issues with Mambo, it seems the problem is with splitmenu, when you choose another option like Transmenu, it works fine.:)

September 1, 2008 at 3:01 pm #268178Actually, I’ve been testing out some of the free Joomlart templates on Mambo 4.6.3 and at first sight they seem to work.
I have spent more time working on the JA Mercury template and have encountered some problems. I am not sure if these are related to my lack of knowledge in some area or purely an incompatibility problem.
1) Drop down wrapping Quirk
The drop down menu which seems to work perfectly in the demo site and others that I have seen people in the forums share has a ‘wrapping quirk’. Any text that on the 2nd level of the menu is wrapped at every new word.
Question: Does anybody know if there is any setting that I might be overlooking to overcome this wrapping problem?
2) Missing template files in /public_html/mambo/templates/ja_mercury
Although the template has been set as the default template and it displays correctly, if I go looking for the images or index.php or any other files in the templates/ja_mercury folder, the whole folder is empty. I am completely lost as to where the files are?I installed the Joomla 1.0X ZIP file using Mambo’s Installers -> Universal -> Upload Package File option.
Question: Has anybody experienced something similar? Have I overlooked any step?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi jaway,
Our templates are no longer tested and supported for Mambo. I guess you should switch over to Joomla.jaway Friendjaway

September 1, 2008 at 3:15 pm #268181Hi Hung Dinh,
Thanks for your quick response. Unfortunately switching to Joomla is easier said than done. Not all hosts are providing Joomla.
When you say ‘no longer supported’ what do you mean? I thought that this site has always been for Joomla? Did you actually start of with Mambo, before switching to Joomla? I didn’t realise that.
Nevertheless, my understanding is that Joomla 1.0X and Mambo 4.5x should be compatible and that templates created for one should be compatible for the other? Am I mistaken? Are there known exceptions?
This is quite important for me as I have to work with Mambo, but on the other hand it is hard to get good Mambo ‘specific’ templates, whilst Joomla templates abound and you have quite a selection of fine Joomla templates here.

September 4, 2008 at 2:22 pm #268755Hi Hung,
I followed your suggestion and applied this template JA Mercury and JA Purity to Joomla.
I am glad to say this resolved problem #2.
Unfortunately I am still facing the drop down/sub menu wrapping problem mentioned in point #1 above. Could you suggest what I may do to alleviate this problem?
I’ve uploaded two images for you to have a look at, look at the text Management Consultant and you will see what I mean by wrapping on sub menu.

September 4, 2008 at 8:46 pm #268787Thanks Hung Dinh and all other for your invaluable help in solving this problem.
Turns out this has absolutely nothing to do with Mambo – blaming Mambo and expecting Joomla to solve everything led nowhere.
I found out that in the folder /public_html/templates/template_name/css
there is a file by the name of ja-sosdmenu.cssIn this file are all the settings for the menu level 1,2 3 and greater navigation
I added the command: white-space: nowrap;
under the section for level 2 after the code:#ja-mainnav ul.menu li ul a {
border-right: none;
margin: 0;
padding: 7px 10px;This prevents the text on level two from wrapping
Also I found out that by modifying the values in
padding: 7px 10px;
you can adjust how much padding there is above/below and left/right of the menu item’s text.
Hope this proves helpful to others that want to prevent a submenu’s text from wrapping
