I wish to make the masthead color overlay lighter in color. it seems to make the background image quite dark and I want to know what is the code (so I can put it in my custom.css file) to make the overlay of the image lighter.

Hi
Open /css/custom.css file in the template folder.
Create the file if it’s not present.
Add below code in file and change the colour code as per needs

.jamasshead .mask {
    background: #000000;}
