I want to use a custom HTML module in the Masthead position in the Putity III default layout. The options do not show the Masthead position. Screenshot attached.

Have you just tried typing ‘masthead’ in to the empty field? It is in the header.php block so maybe it is not in your templateDetails.xml but it should still work.

    Hope that helps

    I feel so stupid :p
    Thank you. It works.

I will add it in templateDetails.xml

I don’t see that when I type that in in the modules area. When I preview the template positions on the Purity III template I see an area labeled “masthead” yet in Thememagic there is not a settings button like some of the other fields. So I see it in the layout preview, but do not see options to work with it. Do I need to do something on the back end?

    Hi Ellie,

You can open the file: /root/templates/purity_iii/templateDetails.xml

    and will see code like:

    <positions>
    <position>languageswitcherload</position>
    <position>head-search</position>
    <position>mainnav</position>
    <position>masthead</position>
    ...................

Just add position for masthead as above

Ellie, You can just type ‘masthead’ in position even if nothing will match from the dropdown menu. However the modules will be positioned there when you save them.
Unless you insist on having them there then you can do what Saguaros said.

Thank you so much. I did that and it did allow me to use that position, though in theme magic there still isnt a settings icon in the top right like there is for other modules. I guess I don’t get why you would be able to see position “masthead” in the layout, but have to add it to put anything there, I was going to use this area for a simple header for the site. Is this the intention for this module? Thank you.

Hi. The combo of your post and Saguaros definitely helped understand modules a little better. I was able to type in masthead and save, however when I was taken back to the modules screen, for position, it displayed “none” and could not be seen on my site.
However when I went to the templateDetails.xml and added the masthead as instructed, then went back to the modules I was able to do the same thing (just type it in) but this time it displayed the position “masthead” in the module section and I could see it on the actual site.
