Guys.. I did as it was explained in Joomla 1.0.x user guide.. but for some reason, max chars on articles are now showing up. I only see title of the articles and the intro text doesn’t show up. Any help on this?

July 21, 2008 at 1:06 pm #261177Hi There. I had this problem a few weeks ago with Teline II.
Can you try this:
Go to the Article Manager and open the article. Click on the HTML tab in the editor and look at the code.
If you see any <BR> or </BR> codes in the HTML, take them out and save.
It worked for me!
Good luck!
July 21, 2008 at 1:29 pm #261178I looked at the html code in my article and didn’t find any <br> </br>. I have setup my editor to insert <p> tag everytime I hit ENTER. So it has all <p></p> tags.
I am so frustrated right now.. it has screwed up all my settings and now the template doesn’t work. It screwed up my previous template (which I paid $$$ to get make).. I thought JA Template club is professional people and now no body gives me any support for this template. 🙁

I’m with you on that one … I signed up for a year and have yet to receive any ‘official’ JA support, only some of the helpful users on the forum have offered advice.
Too right though, bloody frustrating to pay them money and then get dumped to struggle with sorting the bugs yourself :((
I understand about setting enter to <p> but sometimes, especially if you copy and paste text from say Word, lots of strange things can appear there!
Myself and Cornelio (another ‘non-Joomlart staff’ forum user) did quite a bit of investigation with this problem some time back (many people have had this same problem), you can see the whole thing here:
Maybe one of the ‘workarounds’ that Cornelio provided would work for you?
July 21, 2008 at 2:32 pm #261190Thanks questbg for your help…
tried each and everything.. its still f*&*ng not working. I am not sure if anyone from JA team is looking at this issue or not…questbg Friendquestbg

Wouldn’t hold your breath on that one … I’ve had a really serious problem with Teline II outstanding and still unanswered for about 3 or 4 weeks now. Had I known that ‘official’ support here was so bad, I would have gone with a different template club, despite the fact I like the layout of Teline.
One quick thought … what happens if you remove the image? Does the text appear then?
If so, put the image back in the article, but not right at the start. Try at the end of the first para or something. I fixed one of my articles using that method a few weeks ago.
Bloody buggy or what?! :((
July 21, 2008 at 2:57 pm #261206Hmm…. bloody ** that worked.
Thanks questbg… I changed the {mosimage} position from the “first” in the intro text to the last.. so for e.g.
{mosimage} and here is my some intro text
to
here is my some intro text {mosimage}
and that worked…now do you think I can make some code hack and get it to work the previous way??

July 21, 2008 at 3:04 pm #261208To be honest, I’m not sure, I’m not good with code … I’ve just spent weeks trying to find workarounds for the bugs … like, remove the <b> codes and moving my pics around!!
Glad it worked though, at least now you found a temporary ‘fix’ if nothing else.
Hopefully, somebody ‘official’ from JA will eventually get round to looking at this thread and suggest a more permanent fix for you!

If you find a better template Chris, and quite stable, please let me know. As much as I like the Teline II, I am more interested with a stable, fast and clean template.
When I find time, I might hack the css of the RocketTheme magazine — to remove their whistles and bells. But, it may be more cost effective to do “something else”. I wish someone will write the script for my own concept of a Modular Template.

That should work too. I found that from gaygiorgia. And, sometimes the layout works better. Just a word of caution, the total number of characters before the image must exceed the max characters specified in the JA News FrontPage for the headline article.
