I’ve just upgraded my English/German site from JA University T3 to JA Teline 5 because of a JavaScript problems. I now have the problem that when switching from English to German the megamenu defined in the template configuration is not displayed. The English menu disappears without the German menu being displayed instead.

    Hi @andrewwinkler,

    1. For more detail about how to create multilingual website, you can take a look here.

    2. We do provide a free component named JA Multilingual Component to help you easily create multilingual site and you can see its documentation here.

My site has been working beautifully in both English and German for over a year until l I upgraded last weekend from JA University T3 to JA Teline V. The only problem is that the German mega menu is suddenly no longer showing even though it seems to be defined correctly in the template layout “Magazine – German”. I’ve tried both development and non-development mode as well committing LESS to CSS. It made no difference.

The other problem I’m having is that the two template layouts “Magazine – Home – English” and “Magazine – Home – German” are not working at all. They are producing 504 errors. I don’t know if those two problems are related, but they might. I’ve posted that second problem in a separate ticket. I am just mentioning it here in case they are indeed related.

I had a look at the JA Translate component but it’s not suitable for my site because my database is already 1.5GB as it is and I don’t want to double it in size. That’s why I have different sets of articles on the English and the German side. I’d rather install a working copy of Gtranslate. Unfortunately, the current version is causing SQL error messages on my site.

    Hi @andrewwinkler,

I checked your site and see that the if you navigate to Extensions >>> Template Manager >>> choose style, for example ja_teline_v – Magazine – English >>> switch to tab Layout >>> the position mainmenu has been changed to top-en and top-de-de (in German).

Please download original package and extract it, rename your current folder roottemplatesja_teline_v, upload original template folder and recheck.

    Hallo!
I have the same problem with italian version, the position of megamenu is renamed in top-it-it, but I don’t understand what is the solution. In this moment I disabled Megamenu.
    The site URL is http://www.rns-emiliaromagna.it
    Thank you,
    Silvio

I’ve renamed the folder roottemplatesja_teline_v to roottemplatesja_teline, reinstalled the template and configured the four layouts. While the layouts look okay on the backend (e.g. the menu position is now the same as the menu name: topmenu-en and topmenu-de) and I was able to link news category menu modules to the news item of the top menu in the megamenu designer.

    That’s progress.

But I still have no menu on the German side.

    Update:

I got it to work. Took me working 24 hours non stop to sort it out.

I had to play around with the template manager for a bit until the correct menu file and submenu module were linked with the Default German template layouts and both German layout were referring to the same (non-existing’ ‘topmenu-de-de-de’ menu file. Then I renamed the menu file from ‘topmenu-de’ to ‘top-menu-de-de-de’ and suddenly it worked.

There is obviously a bug in the template manager that makes it add -de to the selected menu name. But now that my German menu has been renamed to the menu name the two German layouts want, the German menu is displayed with layouts as intended.

    2nd Update:

It seems that the bug with the template manager adding country codes to the name of the menu only occurs when “off-canvas” is enabled.

    Hi @andrewwinkler,

Many thanks for your detailed explanation, I passed this matter to development team to test if it’s a bug so they can fix it in next version. If you still have any question, don’t hesitate to let me know.

    Hi @silvioter,

Did you try the workaround as @andrewwinkler mentioned above ?

Would be great if you guys could help me out with my other ticket with the Articles->Special: Blank Page menu item causing 504 Gateway Time-out errors. I’m close to working myself to death getting your Teline V template to work on my site. Thanks.
