We found a problem after a lot of user complaining.
if you go to menu and hover over research -> hover over publications and Click puplications the menu will disappear.
This is not the expected behaiviour you have at your demo. The menu should stay open if you click on empty links.

I think the problem is in this file, but we do not know why

    Hi,

I’m not entirely sure about your point here, when you hover Research > publications > click this ‘publications’ item, it will open page of publications. It’s normal behaviour of Joomla.

When the link is dead, for example #, this should not be the case. Please read carefully what I wrote.
The puplications is only a text seperator. When you click on it it should do nothing, or open the sub menu. Instead closes the whole menu.
To demostrate better what I am saying, Right click on the puplications. It will close the menu. Now go to the menu of your site (meaning joomlart.com) on this page hover over support and right click over documentation. The menu will not close.

The problem is the human "error". You did not predict that when the users hover over the menu, sometimes will click it to open the submenu. When the user clicks the publication to open the submenu the entire menu closes.

If you change the action from hover to click at the navigation at the template you will see it is unusable.
    This happen with chrome.

(ps your customers are not crazy. Everytime you presume that no issue exists and it is the users error. Please think the other way around)

    Hi,

I got your point but as I can see that you’re setting that Publications as an external link which means it’s clickable, actually, there is a field to insert link there in settings of this menu item.

If you don’t want to have link there, you can change the menu item type for Publications item to ‘Menu Heading’ type. This menu item type of Joomla will not clickable.

    Regards

The solution you proposing has the same problem. It is not on the links. I think you only read the first sentence of my post…

Could you let me know the menu item work as described in our demo site? http://ja-platon.demo.joomlart.com/index.php/en/

Or send me the sample page which has that behavior?

If you hover over J!Pages and right click on login page for example menu does not close.
If you go to our site and right click on the menu it closes.
It is like javascript on right or left click gets the order to close the menu.

    Also on chrome
If you change the action from hover to click at the navigation at the template you will see it is unusable.

It seems due to the browser issue specific, when I check in Firefox, it works fine:

    Demo site: http://prntscr.com/erqlrg

I will pass to the team to take a look. You can also raise the same question into Joomla forum, there maybe same topic there.

I just noticed that there is the same problem to ja- decor and probably all templates based on the same menu

Does it happen the same with other web browsers beside Chrome?

Yes. Why are you asking and not try it? 😀
The difference is that with chrome when you go click mode instead of hover it is unusable.
I changed it for you so that you can see it.

Yes, I did try it, see screenshots below:

    Safari: http://prntscr.com/ev11q4
    Firefox: http://prntscr.com/ev122w

    All work except for Chrome

This is your website not ours. At our website mozilla has issues too. Chrome usage is 75.1 %. So this is an issue eitherway
