I have same configuration as your in my local, i tested megamenu icons assignment for public and registered menu items and everything worked fine by my end and your issue cannot be replicated.

If you can share a temp super user account to your backend i can take a look at it and verify ,

Hi

You set Guest user group for guest access so you will need to add icons in megamenu for guest access and not public

It is showing correctly now
