December 17, 2013 at 2:31 pm #193049I have a problem with the MegaMenu. I just designed my entire site, and everything was working fine. All menus were functioning. Then today I wake up, login, and one of the main menu items is not functioning properly. Instead of a megamenu, it is just a straight vertical list of items and groups. All of the other main menu items still function properly.
I go into the template settings, and that faulty menu item still shows as having mega menu turned on…and it appears properly in the megamenu setting screen.
Any idea wtf? It has me pulling out my hair.
Luckily I have been backing up like a mad man, and was able to restore from a day ago. The menu works fine there. I just can’t wrap my head around what I might have done to cause that glitch.

December 18, 2013 at 4:32 am #515815Hi earthson,
I guess that there is one of 3rd party extension installed in your site conflict with mega menu and cause that issue. If problem persists, you can use editor like Firebug in Firefox > check Error tab and you will know the root of issue.

December 18, 2013 at 2:04 pm #515869Well, after waking up again this morning, the error is back. I downloaded Firebug, and checked with the Console>>Error tab open. No errors seem to pop up – unless I’m using the tool incorrectly?? Would you mind having a quick look? The link to my development site is: http://tinyurl.com/lsfv24f

December 18, 2013 at 2:06 pm #515870Guess I should mention that it is the “Members Area” tab that isn’t functioning. I have changed the access to public, so you can see it.

December 18, 2013 at 2:22 pm #515872Well, after some more digging, I discovered that my settings for that menu item were wiped clean in the megamenu admin area. I made changes, and it is working again. So, stay tuned. I’ll report back if I need help. Grrr – websites will be the death of me – my heart can’t take the stress 😉

December 21, 2013 at 3:04 pm #516141Ok, I think I’ve isolated the problem. Perhaps someone with a little more Joomla experience can verify this.
It happened again a few days ago. The ONLY thing I had done, was switch the access level for the menu tab (and sub menu items) from Public to Registered. After that, when I looked at the menu, all MegaMenu settings for that particular item were defaulted back to original. All formatting was gone, and the menu appeared as a single list. I rebuilt it, and tested a few more times. It kept happening.
Since then, I have not needed to mess with the access levels. And, I haven’t noticed any problems.
If that is the problem, then it must be a glitch…hopefully someone can fix it. Thanks 🙂
December 21, 2013 at 3:46 pm #516142It’s happened to me a few times over the last couple of days.
Whenever I edit the associated menu in the menu manager, the megemenu configuration resets and becomes uneditable.
Rebuilding the menu doesn’t fix the problem for me but I have found a somewhat dumb work around.
To add the reset data again I have to switch browsers but I think clearing the browser cache may also work too.
If anyone has a better solution it would be much appreciated. As currently the bug makes creating a menu very frustrating when you have to repetitively add the cofig data.
