Here’s the latest issue with JA Biz not working in Explorer. Please look at this page in Explorer. http://newmyc.com/membership-app You will see that the menu dropdowns hide under the iframe housing a pdf. No other browser has this issue. I believe it can probably be fixed via a z index parameter in the custom.css file. Does anybody happen to have that code? It’s odd that this happens ONLY with menu items configured as iframes. Category blog pages work fine, for example.
    Thanks as always.

Are these flash based by any chance? If so you may need to set wmode=transparent or wmode=opaque for the flash file, IE doesn’t play nicely in these cases as flash ignores the z-index

I am not sure what you mean. I just know that these are pdfs generated by the client and uploaded. The source file is usually an InDesign document. She exports files as PDFs from there.
Thanks for taking an interest. Internet Explorer gags on many common things.

If you could PM me a super admin logon I will take a look, I am sure we can do something.
It Is not really a template Issue but a general problem any template will have with this kind of document.

Thanks for your help. It’s not a problem with reading the document. Internet Explorer does read it. But, unlike all other browsers, IE puts it at the top of the z index overlapping the menu dropdowns with the overlap visible. I’ll send you the login but please don’t make any major changes without telling me. When you fix one thing it has a way of unfixing other things.

I tried assigning a z-index of 1 to the iframe class in template.css but that had no effect in IE. Any other ideas out there?
    Thanks,

Phill was correct, IE has an issue with the file, not the iframe. When I converted the pdf to a png everything worked fine, and also on mobile. But the png looks a little fuzzy on desktop even with resolution cranked up. Is there a better workaround?

Yes, but you are probably best speaking to the people who make the component you are using to insert the file. Or use an alternative pdf viewer. There are a few on the JED that respect the layout in IE better.

Thanks Phill, I am not using a PDF component to insert the file. Wasn’t aware they are out there. Is there one you like best? Right now, all I’ve done is insert the PDF into an iframe using the image address. It’s straight core Joomla.

I thought you were using DocMan then inserting through an iFrame?

I’ve not used many of the ones available on the JED. I would just try the free ones and see how they perform. I was looking yesterday and there are plenty to choose from. The ones that work in HTML5 rather than flash seem the best options.
