HI,
I can login as SuperUser, but no one else can on the front end or back end. They get the error:
<blockquote>
WarningYou cannot access the private section of this site.</blockquote>
I don’t know if it’s related, but the system doesn’t seem to send notification emails either. Like, if you register for an account it doesn’t send the verification email. I tried changing the mail system from phpmail to sendmail, and I tried disabling acymailer, then reenabling it. Didn’t change.
The login error happens if I enter the user accounts in the backend or front end.
Thank you for your help,
Rick

March 25, 2014 at 2:04 am #527946Hi,
I was able to log on to your site using the provided credentials on both backend and frontend with no problem. Did you try to clear your browsers cache and cookies ?Regards
Manos
March 25, 2014 at 3:13 am #527961I just tried clearing everything and it didn’t help. Also, friends I emailed credentials to couldn’t use them. This is a different error than if you use the wrong password.
I googled the error and it talked about a joomla database problem I didn’t understand.

March 25, 2014 at 11:23 am #528045Hi,
I see what you mean http://prntscr.com/33ychw
I tried to fix using Joomla build in fix function but it didn’t work.
Do you have a previous backup for your site (the one before the update to Joomla 3.2.3 ?)March 25, 2014 at 5:24 pm #528093No. I was still playing around, trying to figure out how all the parts work.
Is this bad enough I need to start over, or is there a way to clean it up?
Thanks,
R

March 31, 2014 at 11:22 pm #528854So, I’m not very good in phpmyadmin but I managed to get this to work. It lets people login now. I don’t understand why it happened though.
I also did a fresh install of you joomla quickstart for mitius, added 2 users, then clicked to update to joomla 3.2.3. Received this error: SQL=ALTER TABLE `prefix_update_sites` ADD COLUMN `extra_query` VARCHAR(1000) DEFAULT ”;
So everything was new and fresh, but updating failed. Should I not update?

April 1, 2014 at 6:40 am #528904Updating Joomla is a very risky thing in my experience! Besides joomla you also have different extension and components installed for sure and the template itself. you need to wait until the template and other extensions you have support the new version of joomla, Then you may update but read the change-logs first!
As for example the new joomla update started to have conflicts with bootstrap! so most templates based on latest versions of T3 started to have bugs cause of it. 🙂

April 1, 2014 at 8:15 am #528930@rickjones: For the issue occurred when processing to upgrade Joomla on your site, you can try to this solution:
Login Back-end -> click Extension Manager -> tab Database -> click FIX button in top.
Let me know how it goes.
April 8, 2014 at 11:57 pm #530077I tried this before the original posting. No luck.
Pascm also tried this, as mentioned above.
By directly editing the database I was able to stop this error, but am concerned about others that may exist, so have started the project over.

April 10, 2014 at 4:22 am #530238@rickjones: I see many users face the same issue when upgrading Joomla version as your case. Hope Joomla can sort this out soon.
