I would like to display one of the menus without the icons in front of them. I have switched icons off in the module, but this does not help. Does anyone have an idea how to solve this?

Search in the css file for this, line 929 and 946

a-mainlevel-hover.gif
And this:

a-mainlevel.gif
There is two images making that happen, so just delete them and add the color you want as backgorund instead
