Hi, I have upgraded a site to joomla 3, it has a number of normal joomla articles and menu links to them. Ja charity doesn’t show them though, see this example:

Do i have to make all the articles into modules and assign positions or can I make a template version which allows me to display articles?
(The new site is being built on hkjfl.com/new for now)

At present it seems that menu item template style > Layout does not have component block in its layout so its not showing , try to change the template style for the menu that contain component section in its layout .
it will solve the issue .
OK I understand the problem more now. I don’t seem to have a mechanism for creating more than one template style at a time. Either all are set to default or all are set to home-1. I cannot add a style and give it the home-1 layout and then just assign this layout to the home page which seems like the thing i should be able to do is that right? There is no ‘add’ button on the template layout page, should there be?
The drop down ‘current style’ menu only has one item: ja_charity – default
I need at least 2, ja_charity- home 1 and ja_charity – default

You can create duplicate template style from template manager and then use different layout for the template styles . http://prntscr.com/a9pm6p
Apply different template style for the menu items from template options > Assignment tabs . Or from menu options > Template style .
