How do I set up the top menu to contain only some of the menu items that exist in the main menu. I don’t want every main menu item to display on the top menu.

February 11, 2009 at 3:02 am #290569Go to your menu manager and unpublish the ones you don’t want to display.
Hope that is what you were asking.
February 11, 2009 at 3:39 pm #290688Thanks for the input. I have two menus, topmenu and mainmenu. The when I view the menu items for the top menu in the admin console I only see three items. The three items in there are published. I also have a main menu with say 10 items published. What I am seing is all the pucblished mainmenu items also appearing on the top menu. What I would like to see is a top menu with only the three items displayed. Any ideas what is going on?

February 11, 2009 at 6:46 pm #290703I am not using this template, but I believe the top menu is in position USER 3 which is at the very BOTTOM of your page as a footer menu. The main menu is displayed at the top in position MENU. I believe a copy of Main Menu is in the position LEFT as well. Check to see if this information I give you is indeed correct by checking your module manager and the left for main menu and user 3 position for top menu. If this is the case, then unpublish or trash the items you don’t want to display from your main menu.
It may also be that magazine menu is the one being used at the top in position MENU, but without your URL I can’t be sure but I believe by default when the template is installed, it is Main Menu in that position.
You can discover for sure if main menu or magazine menu is being used in that position by going to your template manager and click on the Uvite template and check the parameters for the menu.
February 15, 2009 at 8:05 pm #291622Thanks very much for the help. Looks like setting the Menu to topmenu in the template parameters did the trick. The main menu displays inside the content with all of it’s items and the top menu displays a subset of the items accross the top.
