I don’t have Mesolite installed but looking at the css files from the online demo, I’d look for occurrences of #FFFFFF and li or ul here
templates/ja mesolite ii/css/menu/css.cssBlessings Shannon

June 4, 2010 at 7:06 am #345937Thank you, uiquebiz…good answer but i did a “find” for #FFFFFF yet couldn’t seem to locate it. OK…will check again for the li or ul code. I was looking in both the template.css and the css.css
Will let you know if I find it because it’s so nice of you to respond so promptly. Client says there’s “too much white,” so that’s why I have to change it…in fact, hoping to figure out how to change the whole left column to a color.

Hey Friend Cybernun
Took me hrs but I finally cracked it, least on my test site it works:ptemplate.css line 939
add your colour to background, at present it has no declaration which inherits transparent from body bkg. that’s why it never showed in search for # FFFFFFul.menu li a {
display: block;
outline: none;
padding: 8px 0 9px;
margin: 0;
text-indent: 15px;
text-decoration: none;
text-transform: uppercase;
color: #666666;
border-top: 1px solid #E6E6E6;
background: #00a9dd url(../images/arrow.png) no-repeat 92% 14px;}To get the VM menu the same colour change line 211 in ja.vm.css to match
a.mainlevel:hover, a.mainlevel:active, a.mainlevel:focus {
background: url(../images/arrow.png) no-repeat 92% 14px #FF7F55;
text-decoration: none;Hope this helps

June 4, 2010 at 5:02 pm #346024Shannon—people like you are what makes Joomlart Forums so helpful. I’m deeply touched that you went to so much trouble. I will try your solution now.
I worked on it last night and realized that if i changed the body color (client did not like the white anyway), I would affect the left nav bar area…which was when a lightbulb went off…aHA! it’s transparent. But your solution is more specifc and more helpful.
I originally chose Mesolite becaue of Virtuemart but as it turned out, client (an artist) felt it was too commercial and it was all disabled. I may switch the entire template. But I’ve learned a lot and will use mesolite again in the future because thanks to people like you, I now know what to look for when customizing this template.
PS: the draft /working example is at: http://rolandworkshops.com/dev/
I think you will see why I will probably switch to a different template…Mesolite is hardly recognizable!PAX 😀

The site does look different, if the bkg image didn’t breakup and tile it would be better?
Thank You for your kind words, it’s users like yourself taking time to say more than thanks that keep me trying to solve stuff.
I used Zeolite 2 which also has a VM Cart on a site it’s almost finished, but I too needed to change the background colour and spruce up the submenus
But I took a different approach making the site outer bkg light bluehttp://monsoftwebdesign.net/ECSZ
I have a few ideas on what direction you may go and some other templates/cart options if you want help? PM me your email addy and I’ll be in touch.
Peace Be with You

June 5, 2010 at 12:43 am #346044Hi Shannon—
Yes, i agree. Don’t like the tiling. Client wanted an image in background but i could not figure out how to do it without tiling…I prefer what the template initially had – light grey – and yours – a blue – but will leave until I find better solution.
Client seems to be happy with all the tweeks so I guess I’ll keep the template but I’m having a heck of a time implementing a PayPal system with all the options (like Tax & shipping) right there in the article. I bought the NICE PayPal button extension but implementing is a head scratcher. Still putting in content then will go back and try to finesse the PayPal section. Sigh. I love Joomla but sometimes I feel like it’s Rocket Science.
I’m a little less intimidated though knowing that there is help out there! Good luck with your site…you REALLY customized the Ja slideshow…interesting.
