My client decided upon purchasing the Mesolite template for it’s modern look. I installed on godaddy and it was incredibly slow. I reinstalled 2 x’s and it was still slow. ‘Thought maybe it had something to do with the server and switched the hosting to siteground. Wanting to be sure I had the full installation correct, I opted to use the “quickstart” version of Mesolite. What I have is another VERY slow installation at http://stpatricksirisht-shirts.com and I am just about ready to pull out my hair.
My Safari browser tells me it is loading 549 items. This is far different than the Mesolite demo site which loads only 4 items. Can anyone tell me how to make this a quicker load? :((

February 16, 2009 at 8:22 pm #291853OMG! You are not kidding!!! I finally had to shut it down waiting to view one T-shirt. It took forever for me to load the home page too. I went back and tried to download a hat. I clicked on the image and it opened in a lightbox that sits and spins and spins and spins…. After about four minutes I finally gave up and shut that window down also!
What are properties on the images? (Byte size I mean) Are they all in proportion? I tried to check but obviously I can’t!

February 17, 2009 at 3:04 am #291856Hi,
You have to optimize your site correctly, the template itself won’t load slow but the content e.g pictures. I have viewed your website, there are only few colors in your website and I believe that you can reduce the picture file size to very small.
February 17, 2009 at 3:42 am #291859Thanks for taking a look. What I have discovered, after spending the weekend and all of today (off-clock) trying to troubleshoot, I found the setting causing the speed issue. The parameters of the “Product Slide” module, which scrolls the products across the page, were set exactly to the default of the template – the template that I did a “quickstart” install which included all of Joomla files. I spent hours in the forums and tweaking and testing everything but this, because it logically wasn’t supposed to any cause for concern. Finally, I thought “what the hell?” and I tested all of the parameters. It turned out that the “type of product to display” default according to the Mesolite manual ( http://www.joomlart.com/forums/topic/ja-mesolite-userguide/ ) is “Latest”. When I changed it to “only Specials” the site sped up ~ 500%. Does anyone have an idea as why this parameter change fixed the issue?

jsliao is right.
Im guessing that you added all products recently, so what the slider does when you load the site is pre-load ALL pictures of all your products (as they are all recent). This would explain you had to download like 600 pictures when loading site. Your slider was also always the latest one to finish.
