For the Thailand charity website – http://www.bctfn.org – I am using JA Purity II (1.2.1) on Joomla 1.5.25. It is mainly an archive website – you can read a brief explanation here).
I need to update the template so it looks less “bleak” ie more colours, maybe a livelier theme – not too lively of course, given the subject matter! The template has been in place for quite a while now and needs to change its looks a bit. Most charity websites now and are very lively with lots of smiling faces.
If anyone has the time to give me some input I would certainly appreciate it:
Should I be upgrading from Joomla 1.5.25? How big an upgrade should I undertake, 16, 1.7…..2.5?
Is there a set of themes I could apply to the existing Purity II template to change its overall look in one action?
What simple changes (I am not a joomla guru!) could I make to create significant changes to the look of the Purity II template?
What other changes (add-ons, extensions etc) might help achieve the objectives, considering a charity website?
Is it time to migrate away from Purity II to another template? What would you suggest that would take minimal work to get up and running? Free is good but I will pay for a commercial template if it really does the job.
I am using Yoogallery for displaying the archived photos etc but there are a few problems/ Lots of photos so it can take some time for them to display. I always seem to have trouble getting the photos to the right size and resolution for the space available. Any suggestions?
Many thanks for reading this and I hope if you have input for any of the questions (or anything else that springs to mind!) you will give me some feedback. Much appreciated.
