I would like to replicate my website locally. I have taken a sql dump of my remote database and I ftp the template folder into my local joomla installation. However the results are not the same, I’m not quite sure what I’m missing OR is there an easier way to do this? The updated version is always the internet version and I need to get that as a copy on my local host. thanks for any advice

Use http://www.joomlapack.net

With it you can backup your site and database in the form of a .zip that can then be installed locally the same way you would install a new installation.
