Im new to joomla, and new to ja teline II as i have used other formats in the past.

I am working on a site http://www.saintgeorgesc.com with the new joomla install 1.5
I used the quickinstall by extracting in in file manager

i see where it has been installed and i found a guide on issu, it says that the modules have been installed to show the content on the main page, and i just cant seem to figure out why im seeing nothing. Any input is appreciated.

When you extracted the quickstart and installed, are you sure you completed the step to install sample data? That is down below some of the other install area.

Some sites use ja_news type modules to show on front page, but if you installed sample data and quickstart correctly it should be set up that way.

You could try installing it again just to be sure.
