What is the best template if I want the site to be viewed on mobile devices like blackberries and also has a discussion board. Need this for a corporate site for communicating info in event of disaster.
Thank you.

Hi Rich,
I use the iphone and I find that the safari mobile browser is a very clever little thing.
It enables me to browse websites very well indeed, even if they were designed years ago before mobile browsing started to take off.
All of the templates since teline iii are optimised to work with mobiles and do a decent job at this.
Regarding your point about a discussion board – do you mean something like a forum? Or coments on articles? Or merely an announcements area.
Some of these features come along with the quickstart version of the template – teline iii has comments for articles using JA Comment.
However, you may wish to peruse to Joomla Extensions Directory for a forum soluton. Kuena has worked well so far for me.
🙂

Thank you for the response. I would like to find a forum / bulletin board that could work with a small screen such as primarily Blackberry browser and possibly the Iphone. I like Fireboard / Kunena but didn’t think it worked without a lot of customization. Does JA Comments work well with BB browser? I am using the Zeolite II template now but it has some bugs or limitations. For example when viewing on BB it doesn’t force one to login before seeing the content (such as registered users). What do you suggest for announcements? I would think that even Joomla may have some built in comment features or interactions in blog mode? I have checked out many extensions on the joomla site but not many claim to work on mobile devices.
I like the Sandidine II but it has been T3 enabled (as it has fireboard integrated and recent tutorial on how to upgrade to Kunena).
I tried some of mobile extensions but they don’t seem to work well or have poor documentation.
Thank you.

April 12, 2010 at 9:28 pm #340144kuena looks good on the iphone using the seleni template – using either the mobile version of the site or the desktop versio of this site.:)
comments works with ja ores on the iphone:)
i have limited experience with the blackberry, except that people who have tested the site with the blackberry reported no issues.:)
all in all, quite favourable experience from this user.
