Ok from what I have read so far, I don’t think there is a way to modify the registration module that is part of Opal? If this is correct can anyone recommend a component that works best for form generation of custom registration fields? If the registration can be modified, how? I would love to keep the drop down effect but add some fields, so please advise if this can be done.

Also a few other things I would like to get opinions on. The site I am creating will have a custom calendar for each member, along with the ability to upload pictures, videos, and news for each member. Any suggestions on what to use with opal for this?

I apologize ahead of time, I am new to Joomla and the Opal template. Fortunately I know how to code it in PHP and playing with some of my code to create some custom pages/modules. Thanks in advance for any advice.

    Hello,

yes, you can change the registration, keeping the dropdown effect.

I used JUser (free at http://www.joomsuite.com), to be able to add custom fields to the registration. It works good.

Edit your custom form, then you can view it on your website and get the source code.

Then, you need to edit templates/ja_opal/html/mod_login/default.php.
Replace the basic registration form with the one generated with JUser.

Hope my message is clear (english is not my native language),
and that it will help you.

    Best regards.
