Can the slideshow have a layout such as this site

thumbs on the bottom,
hover over thumbs changes slide
slide links to article
thumb links to article

text over lay

and this look

I think we can, in template folder, you look for your slideshow layout file to customize it but it would require you some knowledge about html/css. This layout seems to be not available with JA templates yet :((

thanks does the jaslideshow module have a option to hover over thumbs to change the slide

you will need to modify javascript file of the module: /modules/mod_jaslideshow2/assets/script.js
I can’t instruct you much because this is going out of support scope. However I can suggest you as:
try replacing “click” by “mouseover” or “mouseenter” but also will need to listen for action “mouseleave”.
