Hi,
using the sample date of the JA Mero temaplte, an “item” titled “”Welcome to JA Mero” is displayed on the home page between positions 1-2-3 and positions 4-6-8.
Looking through all the modules created in the sample data, I can’t seem to find the one which is responsible for displaying this J-page. Can you please point me to the right one so I can reuse it to display other content on exactly the same position?

I think you’ll find that is the main content and so will come from the menuitem. It will be an article or blog post.

Question now remains which “position” it uses? “Message” or “component”? And how is that other position then used?

It’s “component”. And that always comes from menü items.
Message is used by Joomla to deliver system messages i.e. user name not known, etc etc. It is normally never used for modules etc.

my advice would be to leave ‘message’ position alone as it is used by Joomla to show warnings, confirmations, etc. Don’t use it.
If you want to add a new position, it’s really quite easy to do. Documentation to build a new position is HERE.
