I have a module set for position right on all pages.

It works fine on all except for the contact page where it appears in the main area under the contact details.

How can this be corrected?

An URL of the page would help to detect the error.
But, pls verify if in the template folder /html/ subfolder, you have /com_contact/ folder. If yes, try to rename it to /com_contact_old/, for example.

Thanks gray but there is no template/html/com_contact folder.

I might reinstall the template because it might be a 3rd party component problem, also I’m not familiar with T3 really and seem to have issues with the layouts for handheld /iphone etc – I may well move to a different template.
