January 23, 2009 at 8:46 am #137394I need to know which position the template is not using? I have a module that I have to place in an un-user position in order to use the module effect.
I was looking at 1, 4, 5, 6, and 7? Can anyone tell me which position I can use, that the template is not using?
Thanks….

January 23, 2009 at 9:03 am #287763have you tried looking at the template preview feature in the joomla backend?
This isn’t the preview link which sits at the top (next to the logout link) but it is a feature which allows you to see where the module positions are and which are being used.
if you click on the template manager menu link which you can find under extensions (after you’ve logged in the joomla backend) and then select your template you will be shown the parameters for your template – right?
above the parameters there should be a link which called Preview (it’s next to the Edit HTML and Edit CSS links).
Click on this link and then you’ll see your site in a little frame with all the positions highlighted and modules in the positions you’re using.
hope that helps
🙂

January 26, 2009 at 2:02 am #288181Thanks so much for this. I used to use Mambo and thought it was not possible to see the template positions. Still have a lot to learn about the differences between Mambo and Joomla.

January 26, 2009 at 3:47 pm #288298To create a module position that will not display on the site simply type a new position name in to the Module Positions dropdown box. This is not just a dropdown box you can enter text there too.
have you tried looking at the template preview feature in the joomla backend?
This isn’t the preview link which sits at the top (next to the logout link) but it is a feature which allows you to see where the module positions are and which are being used.
Or…. you can add ?tp=1 to the end of your domain. Eg. http://template15.joomlart.com/ja_zeolite/index.php?tp=1
