1) How is it possible to simultaneously stay with Joomla multilingual implementation instructions and deploy a multilingual website with JA Ores? And if you answers: “No, it is not possible”, then it is a flaw in your template that need a fix.
NOTE: By Joomla multilingual implementation instructions I mean to have a distinctive main menu for every language; in our case these would be: Mainmenu English, Mainmenu Arabic & Mainmenu All.
Thanks,
Vaalf</blockquote>I don’t have Ores but I have other JA templates and every single one of them uses the Joomla multilanguage menus. You don’t build new menus just for the templates, you use the ones you have already.
When you build profiles for the language you can select which menu you want to use e.g. mainmenu-english, mainmenu-arabic, mainmenu-whatever. You pick it. It stays exactly with the Joomla way. Change template and the meus are still there as you set them up.

January 27, 2012 at 10:28 pm #435788Hi Swissa,
Thanks for your reply.
After many struggles and self-explorations I was finally able to set my multilingual website with Joomla 1.7.3 and JA T3 1.6 through the “Language & Page Assignments” section in my JA Ors template settings. Yet, not every thing seems to be quite normal as I don’t know how should I proceed to have all the available profiles for each of my languages; English and Arabic?! In other words, while I have assigned each of my language specific menus to its associated language but I don’t know how can I duplicate each of the available profiles for each language?
Saying that I have read read all the buzz on http://www.joomlart.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-60322.html? including your advices.
And could you please ensure that your advices will not eliminate any options and/or decrease flexibility of my multilingual website? I don’t want my hands in a nutshell when I want to use a Joomla and/or Joomart template’s feature anytime in the future.
Thanks,
VaalfJoomlart Support Staff,
I’m also waiting to receive your comments on my questions and that whether I am going through the right direction or not?swissa Friendswissa

January 27, 2012 at 10:50 pm #435790Hi Vaalf,
So that you understand. I live in a country with 3 national languages, a local language and English. I would not be using Joomlart unless it could handle all of those easily. Like you I want one site not to have manage 4 or 5. T3 does this simply once you understand the logic behind it which follows Joomla very well.
Before we go any further and to give you peace of mind please can you confirm that you have downloaded and installed Akeeba backup on your site – available here:- https://www.akeebabackup.com/download/akeeba-backup/akeeba-backup-3-3-12.html
and that you have made a back up of your site. You can then, if you wish, take a copy of the backup and store it on your desktop. You will have one on your site and one on your local computer.
If you do this BEFORE we do anything else then you know that you will always be able to come back to this point with the site exactly as it is now. I think this will help you with your worries. 🙂
After that we can see what profiles you would like for each language, make them and then assign them to each language. It really is very easy and nothing to be nervous about. Otherwise I wouldn’t be doing it myself. 😉
And of course if you learn now to do backups before making any big changes you will have the confidence in the future that you can always restore your site.
So please read the Akeeba documentation, install, take a backup and then we go further. Okay?
If you can give me the url of the site it would help me too.

January 28, 2012 at 8:20 am #435845Hi Swissa,
I want to let you know that I have found another workaround to have all available profiles – those that are shipped with my template from joomlart – for English and Arabic language.
The remedy is in fact installation of 3 distinctive version of my JA Ores template; one assigned to main-menu-all and language All the other to main-menu-english and language English and the last to main-menu-arabic and language Arabic. The output seems great as not only all the menus work fine in my website but all profiles are already in place for each language. What the employed trick mean is that I preferred not to use the override function of joomlart template under “Language & Page Assignments” section because it doesn’t offer me a way to assign more than one profile to each language at the same time. Moreover, the assignment of components as some other users claim so will get me into trouble in future.
The way I could manage to install 3 copy of JA Ores in same Joomla installation is by simply changing the template name from within the templateDetails.xml file located under template folder.
However, I don’t know what might be the cons of such workaround (if any) then I would be thankful if you could shed some light on the issue.
What is obvious for me is that I always want to have the maximum available flexibility and features that both Joomla and Joomlart template has to offer. That will ensure a smooth and easy maintenance of my website in future without having to go through tough workarounds or re-implementation and redoing of tasks, settings and other stuff.
Thanks,
VaalfP.S. I installed Akeeba as per your advice. Thanks for being very obliging.
and unfortunately my installation is on my own localhost not a live one.swissa Friendswissa

I can’t help you there as I have never done this. I have only been working with Joomla since November last year and as I said I use T3 to do what I need. The more I know about it, the more I like it. We have to go with what we feel is the best way for each of us. 😉
I am very glad to hear that you have installed Akeeba. Make sure you do regular backups now. It is the first thing I install and has saved my life more than once.
I wish you luck with the site.
