May 12, 2014 at 1:48 pm #197671Why is the module title for the JA Top Panel not changing on the front end to reflect the customized title name change on the back end? It just continues to say Top Panel regardless of the changes you make. Shouldn’t we be able to customize the name from Top Panel to our preference by changing the Title of the module in module mgr?
Can someone provide a work-around for this or some other means of accomplishing this task?
Thank you

May 12, 2014 at 2:53 pm #534651What changes did you make?
Might you be able to share a screenshot of where you entered the change you refer to?

May 12, 2014 at 3:25 pm #534672Want to simply rename the title displayed on the label of the top-panel.
Should be able to change title name in module mgr and have that reflected on the front-end, but that’s not working.
see illustration

May 12, 2014 at 3:38 pm #534682Go to this File: languageen-GBen-GB.mod_jatoppanel.ini
replace the Top Panel within the quotes to any text
TOP_PANEL="Top Panel"

May 12, 2014 at 5:57 pm #534735That did the trick.
Now for future, we would use the module manager to change title as normal, but if that didn’t work then we could always resort to this new method, correct? Or does this new method only work for top-panel? (Is this a bug with top-panel or is it just setup differently?)
Also, if I wanted to make that tab a little wider to allow for more text, where would I do that?
Thnx

May 14, 2014 at 1:30 am #535001Hey guys, still had a question about the tab (see prev post). If that’s not possible please inform (don’t just leave me in limbo).
Also, while we’re at it, is it possible to convert the top panel to a side panel for smaller screens (such as phones)? So it would be a top panel as normal for desktop, laptop, tablet etc, then when you get down to small screens where a top panel would be to small, it would pull out from the side. Is that possible?
Thanks

May 14, 2014 at 3:40 am #535011It can be changed only as we discussed to do in this file languageen-GBen-GB.mod_jatoppanel.ini
another solution is in this tutorial http://docs.joomla.org/J2.5:Language_Overrides_in_Joomla
other than this, we don’t have an alternative.

May 14, 2014 at 3:52 am #535014What about a top to side conversion panel for small devices? Is that possible…? opening from the side when screen shrinks to certain point?

May 14, 2014 at 5:17 am #535032the layout won’t be good to view. if you need to check how it looks.
Do this
Go to this File: /templates/ja_social_t3/css/mod_jatoppanel.css
#ja-top-panel {
display:block !important;
}
after you see how the output is, then remove this code.

May 14, 2014 at 5:12 pm #535151See what you mean…
I was thinking though something more along the lines of a side panel. Where once the screen reached a certain width, the panel would disappear from the top and reappear on the side. The top panel would become a side panel. You got anything that might achieve that?
At any rate, thanks for the help out. This block code gives me something to work with (although have to do quite a bit of customization), but the side panel would be ideal. If you come up with something (or already have) that can produce a side panel, that’d be super!
Thanks
