March 16, 2009 at 9:13 pm #139207Ok, I apologize in advance for some of the dumb questions I may ask — this is my first go with Joomla, and I promise to get fluent with it and be able to answer some of the questions in the future!
Right now I am familiarizing myself with posting articles. The problem I have right now is that I have submitted and article and it appears on the front page (body section), which is what I want.
Unfortunately, modules Left and Right have shifted to underneath the JA Content Slider module.
I have tried to get them back to their proper positions, and I’m sure it is something really easy.
Is anyone able to point me in the right direction?
You can see what I mean here:

Thanks in advance! 🙂

March 17, 2009 at 4:28 am #296375Hi Prof
Nice looking site! I’m with jsliao, the site looks OK at the moment. I guess you must have unpublished the problem article.
The error you described is often caused by pasting text from another application (MS Word is the biggest culprit) into the article editor.
You can click the HTML tab in the article editor and check for any strange code which may have been transferred from Word and remove it, then try republish to see if it fixes the problem.
A good tip is to always paste your text onto Notepad, then copy again and paste into the editor as this can remove some of the dodgy code.
Good Luck!
Chris

Ah, that’s exactly what I did (pasted directly from my existing site). I’ll give it a go (notepad), thanks for the tip.
Yes, I unpublished it.
Anyways, that probably also (hopefully) exains when the main article is pushed down to one of the smaller 3 areas below, the text was going a lot bigger.
I’ll let you know if it fixes the problem.
As for the site itself — lots to do. I’ve only been working on it for a few days and the content added is just me familiarizing myself with how Joomla works.
Modules will be moved around, some will be gone (content slider, I think), and I’ll add some extensions — JomComment for sure.
Thanks!

March 18, 2009 at 4:30 am #296587Hi Prog
Glad it worked out! Often the simplest things such as copying and pasting from elsewhere can cause such headaches!
Good luck with the rest of the site.
Chris
