any way to move the black text box in the slideshow up 25 pixels so that’s it not flush to the bottom of the slideshow?

Within file path –> /modules/mod_jaslideshow/assets/themes/minisite/style.css
at line 67, try modifying as follows (as a suggestion)

background: url("bgd_desc.jpg") repeat scroll 0 0 rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);
color: #666
height: 170px;
left: 0;
padding: 20px 40px;
position: absolute;
text-align: center;
top: 50px;
width: 380px;
z-index: 20;
}

You can, of course, play around with the pixel value for the “top” property until you arrive at a result you’re most happy with.
