THen I make a backup of every files and moved the database to the new host space. Everything working fine in the front page… BUT… for some reason in the new server, Css is not loading ๐ ๐ in child pages ๐ the articles are not loading too… ๐
Anyone that have already make this migration of server and have a clue of what is happening ???

April 15, 2009 at 5:23 pm #301434How did you move everything?
I’m guessing you downloaded all files and your database then uploaded them to your new server?
What I would suggest is using Joomlapack to move your site.
Sometimes files can become corrupt or you could have used the wrong ftp mode etc. So much could have gone wrong it will be hard to track down so try joomlapack.
April 15, 2009 at 5:29 pm #301435Indeed I downloaded it and uploaded vis cuteftp…. I’ll check the url you sugest ๐ Thanks for the reply… i’ll give back news soon ๐

April 15, 2009 at 5:41 pm #301437CuteFTP is well known for choosing the wrong mode for uploading files. Good luck with joomlapack.
April 15, 2009 at 8:40 pm #301457WElll I tried joomlapack, indeed much more rapid and simple… BUT… the same problems ๐ ๐

April 15, 2009 at 10:47 pm #301482I’m stumped. Not sure it if the ~ character is causing a problem in the filename. Something wierd is going on.
April 16, 2009 at 8:51 am #301548Even that i don’t believe that the cause of the problem is the ~ I believe in everything now ๐
But it is bad to move the DNS to this broken new version ๐
My hope was someone that make a server migration could have some know how about this error ๐
Ok… I changed the dns settings, so I can see if the problem was with the ~ on url…
But it’s not ๐
With the domain pointing to the new hosting, the problem maintain ๐ Css not loading in other than the first page and articles are not loading..๐

April 17, 2009 at 12:21 pm #301643I didn’t really think it would be but I am lost for ideas. I have moved many sites from server to server and never encountered problems like this. All I can suggest is that you check your configuration.php and see if the paths in there are correct. If they are then it had so be a server problem.
Does the same site work if you download it from your new server to localhost?

April 17, 2009 at 2:04 pm #301661hi phill luckhurst,
First of all thank’s for your concern…
The configuration file must be ok… the root directory is the same in the two server (/public_html/portal) and the main page is loaded correctly… so I really thing the problem is not from there…
I do what you suggest and downloaded and run a copy version on localhost… and guess what !!! It works just fine… all the articles load correctly and the forum and contacts and other sections load the css definition correctly.
Server problems you suggestt…. but what king of problems could it be to give an error like this ?? Any Clue ?
Thanks again for all the help.
