Ok I moved my site http://www.vivaasiamagazine.com from hosting at godaddy to hosting at Blue. I moved all the files and nothing happened and then the people at Blue told me i had not moved the sql files. I had to back them up at godaddy and download them and then upload the to Blue. I did this and now at Blue it does not work http://66.147.244.219/~vivaasia although all the files are there and when I went back to http://www.vivaasiamagazine.com which is still on godaddy that does not work now either.

    Any ideas pleeeeeease.

Are you sure you moved all needed files and sql ?

I can see your issues but this is a question for your host, on the given IP i can see some problems but from what i can tell the site hasn’t been restored properly.

    Jim:

If you can’t get into your administrator backend to check/verify that all of the database info is correct, then the way I did things when I migrated from my former webhost – coincidentally, also over to BlueHost – was as follows . . .

    1. I backed up ALL of my website files and my MySQL database(s)

    2. I performed a new/fresh installation of the base template (in my case, Teline IV J1.5),- including the sample data – setting up/identifying the new databases via my BlueHost CPanel

    3. I copied over/overwrote ALL of my template files from my backup to my new server account.

    4. Using phpMyAdmin, I dropped the MySQL tables within the new database (created with the fresh install) and them imported my backed-up MySQL database (from my previous host account) into that database.

Everything worked fine and dandy for me from that point . . . . I actually did this for TWO sites I migrated over, and both times it worked without a hitch.

Granted, there are several steps involved, but as I said … it worked for me.

Thanks Tom, I can get into the joomla admin and everything seems to be there. If I click on a module it appears. When i click on the articles all the lists appear but if I click on an individual article i just get a blank page. The people at Blue host tell me that everything seems ok at there end with the sql files.

What is more puzzling is after i backedup and downloaded the sql databases on godaddy now the site on godaddy does not work.

I think this is going to turn out to be a disaster for me Tom. I spent hours building the site with lots of help from these forums. I copied all the files from the site using the godaddy java ftp and then uploaded them onto Blue. It took forever as some of the files I had to copy individual images one at a time as I could not upload the whole site in one file as Blue has an upload limit.

I don’t mind that I have not got it working on Blue yet as I have not moved the name servers yet but I can’t for the life of me figure why it is now not working on the godaddy hosting. Added to that godaddy help line is useless with no online help you have to email them everytime they respond to something which means that there at least a 1 hour time between asking them for help and then getting their response that does not help; and having to go back and try again.

Did you copy the databases from your GoDaddy phpMyAdmin and then import them into your new database within phpMyAdmin within your BlueHost server accoount?

Or did you “extract/drop” the tables from your GoDaddy?

If you dropped them, then they aren’t there anymore for the site to pull from.

It can be a tricky process . . . . but like I mentioned, I took the steps I outlined above when migrating and everything worked as it should, with no data loss whatsoever.

Go into site admin/Help/System info and under the Directory Permissions you need to fix the red items:

    Log Directory ($log_path) /home/content/o/r/i/origomedia/html/logs/ Unwritable
    Temp Directory ($tmp_path) /home/content/o/r/i/origomedia/html/tmp/ Unwritable

You have some errors in global configuration menu:

Fatal error: Cannot make non static method JCacheStorage::test() static in class JCacheStorageCachelite in /home1/vivaasia/public_html/libraries/joomla/cache/storage/cachelite.php on line 273

Most likely you are missing some files,so double check that all files and folders are uploaded.
Then check in configuration.php file that the settings there for the database, database username and password, log path and cache path points to the new server path and with correct database info.
