Hi
I have created a Joomla T3 website on a sub domain and now wish to move it to a new host and server.
I am wondering what steps I need to take to move the site and all its components and modules to the new server and keep all content on the site.
This is a T3 framework website. Any help with this request will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in Advance

February 9, 2011 at 3:08 am #375733So would I upload the T3 blank framework onto the new server
Then upload the database using MySQL
Then move over all files from testing server?
Thanks

February 9, 2011 at 3:15 am #375735There is no reason you should upload the T3 blank framework onto the new server…
You should upload all your files from your test server (the site that you have created on the subdomain already includes T3 framework as you already have said that it’s created on T3) and then upload your database probably through phpmyadmin.
February 9, 2011 at 3:37 am #375741Okay that sounds a lot easier, I was hoping that would be the case , so just make complete back-up of files and copy over to new server and upload database through phpmyadmin
Don’t I have to install joomla on new server though?

February 9, 2011 at 5:13 am #375762Most (all?) Cpanels will allow you to open a “file manager” this should have the option to compress the files on your server and create a .zip, this means you only have one file to download and upload to the new server! (plus database fo course)
Cpanel’s file manager can unzip as well of course, it’ll save you alot of time uploading/downloading.
keep backups of everything and you’ll be fine.
