    Hi Folks,
We installed our Joomla/Joomart site in a folder to redevelop an already working domain(it was an already funtioning live site).
Now – Im not sure its best to have the site in a folder for all the SEO reasons etc.
(Its a J1.5 site, we dont want to upgrade to 1.7 just jet as its already been a huge learning curve)

The new joomla site is now up and working, so here’s the questions :
1 Should we move it to the root for better indexing/SEO etc?
2 If we do – apart from the technical issues – what should we be aware of – there are already hundreds of images with intenal links etc etc
3 Is there a guide to do this for the TelineIV template

Basically – is it worth doing?
Any and all advice is welcome. Thanks.

    Hi,

Only difference I see is either the site is accessible from yourdomain.com or yourdomain.com/folder. I dont think there will be much issue with SEO as only difference is the folder name, but again i am not a SEO expert.

If you want to move your site to root folder, I would suggest you to use Akkeba backup component, which allows you to take entire site backup (files and database) from Joomla admin panel and restoring the backup is very easy too. You can check the component details and download it from https://www.akeebabackup.com/

You can find documentation for the backup and restoration process on their website.
