    Hi there, site: http://baico.dev.dnsnetworks.ca/

I have a question – My clients needs are having a Bilingual site *French and English* and being able to purchase/ship a hard covered book via the site.

Should I be concentrating on the functionality of selling the books or making the site bilingual first? Or does it matter?

    Go bi-lingual first. My opinion.

There are lots of ecommerce solutions out there too….

    Hope that helps

Thank you swissa… do you not think I should be using MijoShop?

There are actually lots of language packs yo can use with OpenCart –> http://www.opencart.com/index.php?route=extension/extension&path=2

and, of course, with Joomla –> http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/languages

I’m confused … I already installed my French language pack… fr-FR_joomla_lang_full_2.5.17v1.zip … I thought swissa was suggesting that I use another storefront and NOT MijoShop … like Magento or something… Or am I totally wrong

I am not completely certain what swissa meant . . . perhaps she can clarify.

Nevertheless, you (or your client) already paid for the MijoShop license – and OpenCart is a good ecommerce platform (I am using it myself). So I would stick with MijoShop/Opencart and – if need be – try to work with the various language packs available.

Okay … I am sticking with MijoShop… and Opencart (so what’s the difference between MijoShop and Opencart) Is OpenCart the shopping cart part of it? How do start all this ?? What are steps?? Watching the tutorial videos maybe?

MijoShop is a bridge that allows OpenCart to work with/within a Joomla site.

So, for all intents and purposes (and for sake of argument) . . . MijoShop is OpenCart.

    Hi

    Didn’t mean any confusion!

There are lots of eshops out there. All have to be learnt. So if you have simple needs look for a simple solution. If you’re selling just a few products do you need a full blown system? That’s all I meant.

Make sure you do backups along the way!

    Gruss

    Is OpenCart complex?

What would satisfy a simple solution?

It’s not overly difficult, no … I actually like OpenCart a lot.

Here are some resources for some basic tutorials . . .
