October 2, 2012 at 10:55 am #468865Swissa, that 108% not only worked like a charm, but was also an excellent shoot-from-the-hip number, thanks!
Thanks Ninja lead, but I’m a little confused about the logo fix problem. you are referring to the JA WALL general logo, and Swissa is referring to the minimalist theme/style that I am using…which should I purse? our logo is at 60×60 right now, which is what I thought would work, let me know – thanks!

October 2, 2012 at 12:34 pm #468875Hi seaneo
You are running the minimalist theme so use the css I gave you. Ninja’s differs slightly in its code – he is putting a white background to take out the black background (which is giving you the black lines) – I suggested deleting the background. Same result.
The 108% was tested using Google Chrome so not quite from-the-hip! :p
To save you time, you might want to download Google Chrome and then you’ll be able to see all the css yourself. Just right click and then you can ‘inspect element’ and it will give you the code. There are lots of tutorials, videos, docs, etc up on google in many languages.
As you are doing lots of work on your site in multi language, can I suggest that if you don’t already use it, you download and install akeeba backup and use it often. Would be a shame for you to have to start from scratch if you have a problem…..

The devs can help you or someone like jwbrett or arucardx who have far better knowledge of Wall than me.

My test Wall is on 5.3.4 with no problems. Just check with your hosting about how they implement it. I have to implement extra code into my .htaccess to run 5.3.x.
All the best!

October 3, 2012 at 10:58 am #468980Hi swissa,
How can I fix this mistake I made:?
I have 32 categories on the left side of 173.254.15.37/next/
This means I will have 32 articles on the home page at the end of the day.
These are articles are “teaser” articles, one from each category.
At the moment I have 9 “teaser” articles load on the home page, one from each category. So when a user goes to click on, “Where to eat”, the user needs to see the teaser article they saw on the home page, plus the other articles articles dedicated to that category, articles that they will not see unless they have actually clicked on “Where to eat”
But the problem at the moment is that when I click on “Where to eat”, I don’t even see the “teaser” article that you see on the home page.
I suspect this is related to the language situation that I have setup. I have attached 2 screens, the back-end showing the articles, and the back-end showing the categories.
Your help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks-

October 3, 2012 at 12:00 pm #468988Thanks, I set them to English, see attached, and cleaned cache – same issue! it must be related to the category setup?

October 3, 2012 at 12:19 pm #468993All right then, let’s revisit what you need to do so you can check against it. đŸ™‚
You have the menĂ¼s with flags. One for each language and one for default – stared.
You have the categories for each language with their sub categories – i.e. just copied using the batch command
You have your articles all assigned to a language and to a category. The right category for their language.
All should be good for you if you have that! :p

October 3, 2012 at 12:43 pm #468994Here is my menu of menus: Top “Top” is starred
It seems my category layout could be the problem?
Do my categories need to sub-categories of “Demo Contents”, and “Demo Contents” needs to be a sub category of “English”?

October 3, 2012 at 1:03 pm #468999Yes, your categories are the problem.
The MAIN category for EVERY language must be the language. You already have these.
Under those should be categories for the content. So every menĂ¼ point on the left bar should be mirrored here. All those that you have under Demo I would think. This is so that you pick off categories under Wall and only show relevant content.
You don’t need to take the demo cat across. And they all need to be set to the language.
You will then have to batch them to each language and rename if necessary.
I did tell you it was like building 3 separate sites!! :D:D

October 3, 2012 at 1:19 pm #469001Okay we are getting close! Thank you so much for your walk-through on this…
Yes, I accept that I am building 4 sites – it’s OK!:) I already have all the content, I already have all the translations, and I have assigned myself as the workhorse to load it in the back-end. Too bad it takes so long but I’m going as fast as I can.
Swissa, here is the problem I am running into:
In Category manager, I opened the category “Tasting rooms” , and re-assigned the “Parent” to “English”, and changed the language to English, and I get this error:
“Save failed with the following error: Another category with the same parent category has the same alias”
But there is no other category that I see that has the same parent category that has the same alias…
Perplexing!:) (and frustrating) – thoughts?

October 3, 2012 at 1:34 pm #469004To my mind that’s not the best way to go about it. Batch them to each language. It’s why I said concentrate on the first language and then batch off for the others. Much less hard work etc usw
What you want is this image (albeit with the demo there)
When batching you pick the language prior to hitting ‘process’. Same with the categories. That way you can avoid this pain with aliases. Try doing the batch and see if you get the same problems. Chances are if you do is that you batched off to other languages and haven’t changed the language either from ALL or away from English.
Apart from that you can change the alias to en-tasting-rooms for the moment and at the end go back and sort them.
You’ll be an expert after this. :p

October 3, 2012 at 2:20 pm #469009Thanks – that’s what I’m doing – focusing on English first, I just screwed up somewhere with the categories:((
I looked through the backend and could not find any reference to “batching” – not sure what you mean?
I don’t mind changing category by category if I need to..
Just now I manually changed the first category “Tasting room” to an alias of “en-tasting-grooms” , changed the language of the category to English, and made it a sub category of the category English, but now this category “Tasting room” does not appear on the home page at http://173.254.15.37/next/
Any idea why? thanks!

October 3, 2012 at 2:33 pm #469011cache problem in your browser?
disable cache for Joomla – administrator/index.php?option=com_config / system
I see…………
Batch process – at bottom of Menu Manager and bottom of Category Manager
use set language and copy, pick menĂ¼ or cat then process. does it all for you.
Installed Akeeba yet? đŸ˜®

October 3, 2012 at 2:44 pm #469012Thanks but what is missing after the last step in post #28 is the actual category name “Tasting rooms” on the left menu, but for some reason the article appears on the first page..any idea why? no cache in effect right now…
Akeebe – reminder swallowed (gulp) :-[ thanks đŸ˜‰
