April 9, 2012 at 8:24 am #175937Hi,
Does upgrading my JA Ores template to a newer version through JA extension manager overwrite my template CSS file at templatesja_orescsstemplate.css?
I have just upgraded my Joomla from 1.7.3 to 2.5.4. After upgrade I had a fatal error produced by JAT3 which I managed to solve it by reinstalling JAT3.
But now all of my styles are missing from my website! That is all most none of my CSS styles are being applied to my website any longer!:(( I browsed my template.css file and noticed that none of my styles are there; meaning to me that it is overwritten during template update.
If so, then the question is that to get my styles back do I have to manually incorporate all of my own CSS styles into the new CSS file? What if I restore the previous CSS file (template.css backup file which I made before initiating the upgrade) over the new one?
I know that both may work but the later may corrupt my new Joomla 2.5 site because Joomlart guys might have added new CSS attributes to the file to match Joomla 2.5. On the other side, manual incorporation of my own styles into the new template.css file is a tough job.
Any advice from Joomlart staff would be appreciated.
Thanks,

April 10, 2012 at 5:13 am #447961Yes, upgrades will overwrite changes made to template files. It is always best to make and override file and do all changes that way. In that manner changes are not lost.
Best way to get styles back is to create a new override file and then add the style calls that way.vaalfco Friendvaalfco

Not sure if I have understood your solution but I also found a solution to my CSS problem.
Just used WinMerge – a file and folder comparing tool – to determine differences and apply my CSS styles to the new template.css file. Easily and smoothly.
Could you explain more about how to create override file and adding the style calls, please? Maybe it would serve better in future than my solution.
Thanks,
