February 13, 2009 at 5:21 pm #138103I am developing this site is on my local machine at the moment, it still has a long way to go but I thought it was such a co-incidence that I was searching for a timber-themed template, and the name of the latest JA template … JA Cooper … and this website I am developing at present it suits perfectly. (once I can get it finished)
The site is now live http://www.designercoops.com.au
Just to demonstrate the versatility of JA Cooper that it can be used for other than an automotive website.

February 13, 2009 at 7:35 pm #291209First let me say I know you are in the early stages of developing this website since the beta of the template was only just released yesterday. I assume you are looking for feedback.
Slow down and take a breath. You are in a hurry with this. All of the elements that made this template so great worked together to make a visitor to your site say WOW! Most of those elements are missing from your site. It doesn’t say WOW… it says I am a template.
For instance, the top piece that looks like it’s hanging on the chain housed some great elements. It’s now just hanging there with no purpose. Even if all you did with it was make a fantastic site banner to blend in with it… at least it would have a use. If it were me and I didn’t want a slideshow or anything there, since the site is supposed to have a woodsy feel, I might be tempted to try adding a great site banner that looks like a wood burning plaque. Would have a very rustic feel.
See if there is some way you can incorporate more of the elements from the original template design into your site.
As I said in the beginning…. slow down and take a breath. This template has amazing potential.

February 14, 2009 at 12:17 am #291261You are right it is lacking without the slideshow.
Once i have some chicken coops to photograph I will have the slideshow set up and it will come to life.
There have been design modifications since the last chicken coop prototype two weeks ago so I need to construct the new models to photograph. (i am making the coops as well as the website, they are under construction too, chicken coops are my hobby)
I just thought it a strange coincidence because of the name of the template and the topic of the website, I was looking for a timber themed template.
I really just wanted to demonstrate the versatility of JA Cooper by showing a different use for the template other than an automotive website.

imsleepy, if your around I would like a minute of your time if possible.
I am fairly new to Joomla! and have 5 years of HTML & CSS knowledge (stronger on the HTML, but can understand and write CSS), and minor PHP. I have created some 30 – 40 websites from scratch, but recently switched to using templates for work purposes, for obvious reasons. I found this template on a Google search. Well, now Im in stuck mode and cannot go any further, amlost beyond my means. If your around please reply, I know exactly what you mean you say “This template has amazing potential.” – that’s exactly what I need.ShannonN FriendShannonN

May 2, 2009 at 4:44 pm #303218Ha ha if you are hoping to offend me with the photo, then you haven’t. (ha ha) But nice try. There is always a fool in the crowd.
Now cats and dogs, they are such a waste of space.
At least chickens provide food in the form of eggs, and chicken MEAT.
It’s called sustainable livingAlthought they do eat cats and dogs in some asian countries I think you get a better feed from chickens though! :p

May 2, 2009 at 5:22 pm #303219I would suggest you either upgrade your site to the latest release of the template or add the IE8 meta take to the top as it does not display well in IE8. All the modules and content is shifted to the left.
It looks fin in Safari, IE7, FF, Opera, Crome etc.
1 user says Thank You to Phill for this useful post

The majority of users would be using IE so I will upgrade the template.billyk Friendbillyk

May 3, 2009 at 2:05 pm #303277My two cents: Your project is coming along nicely, just be sure to watch for balance. There’s too many graphic design elements happening here, and it makes the page look “chockablock”. Perhaps just one style of wood grain? Also, the large text block on the left, throw an image in there or perhaps a pull quote. I see a lot of designers (or so they call themselves) using .gif images that don’t have the right color “matte” so when on a dark or light background it appears as “jaggity” Here’s a link for a .png file that supports true transparency
Here’s a link to help you understand .gif “mattes”
Good luck
