August 29, 2007 at 4:24 pm #228342It looks superb! Can it be that it loads a bit slow ?
Interesting component the jbooks … didn’t know it yet.
I think I will take a closer look at it … thanks for the introduction 🙂I just did a check on the WebSiteOptimation site.
They give a warning regarding the size of your homepage (seem to be way too many images)<blockquote># TOTAL_HTML – Congratulations, the total number of HTML files on this page (including the main HTML file) is 1 which most browsers can multithread. Minimizing HTTP requests is key for web site optimization.
# TOTAL_OBJECTS – Warning! The total number of objects on this page is 137 – consider reducing this to a more reasonable number. Combine, refine, and optimize your external objects. Replace graphic rollovers with CSS rollovers to speed display and minimize HTTP requests.
# TOTAL_IMAGES – Warning! The total number of images on this page is 126 , consider reducing this to a more reasonable number. Combine, refine, and optimize your graphics. Replace graphic rollovers with CSS rollovers to speed display and minimize HTTP requests.
# TOTAL_CSS – Caution. The total number of external CSS files on this page is 5 , consider reducing this to a more reasonable number. Combine, refine, and optimize your external CSS files. Ideally you should have one (or even embed CSS for high-traffic pages) on your pages.
# TOTAL_SIZE – Warning! The total size of this page is 543326 bytes, which will load in 135.68 seconds on a 56Kbps modem. Consider reducing total page size to less than 30K to achieve sub eight second response times on 56K connections. Pages over 100K exceed most attention thresholds at 56Kbps, even with feedback. Consider contacting us about our optimization services.
# TOTAL_SCRIPT – Caution. The total number of external script files on this page is 5 , consider reducing this to one or two. Combine, refine, and optimize your external script files. Ideally you should have one (or even embed scripts for high-traffic pages) on your pages.
# HTML_SIZE – Caution. The total size of this HTML file is 35807 bytes, which is above 20K but below 100K. With a 10K ad and a logo this means that your page will load in over 8.6 seconds. Consider optimizing your HTML and eliminating unnecessary features. To give your users feedback, consider layering your page or using positioning to display useful content within the first two seconds.
# IMAGES_SIZE – Warning! The total size of your images is 442235 bytes, which is over 30K. Consider optimizing your images for size, combining them, and replacing graphic rollovers with CSS.
# SCRIPT_SIZE – Warning! The total size of external your scripts is 19926 bytes, which is over 8K. Consider optimizing your scripts for size, combining them, and using compression where appropriate for any scripts placed in the HEAD of your documents.
# CSS_SIZE – Warning! The total size of your external CSS is 45358 bytes, which is over 8K. Consider optimizing your CSS for size by eliminating whitespace, using shorthand notation, and combining multiple CSS files where appropriate. </blockquote>mfcphil Friendmfcphil

October 7, 2007 at 4:03 pm #230733Can I ask how you got your text to wrap around the image on this page? http://www.carlosys.com/web/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=27&Itemid=1
I’ve tried everything and the text on my page doesn’t wrap around it properly, there is always a large boundary around the image.
October 7, 2007 at 5:16 pm #230743The code is:
<p align=”justify”><img src=”images” alt=”My image” width=”104″ height=”104″ hspace=”5″ vspace=”5″ border=”1″ align=”left” />here the text …. </p>
It is the response to question?
October 7, 2007 at 6:52 pm #230749Thanks that worked perfectly 🙂
October 8, 2007 at 5:11 pm #230810Hi Carlos!
Your site looks awesome! The banner at the top and the navigation bar/icons complement each other. It seems there is a need to put twice the number of navigation links, I was told just recently. and having the options as in your site certainly is in the right direction.
Its so clean and so stylish, without too much cluttered information, so that readers are not confused where to go. That is hard to do, nowadays, the frontpage is so much filled with stuff that its hard to really enjoy reading, and the blinking ads certainly add to the confusion.
Good job!
