The most inportant rule in web development which is missed by most

    B A C K U P your site,

    I’ll say it again

    B A C K U P your site

before and after you make a change of any type

B A C K UP your site, BACK UP you database

at least you can get the site up and running again to the point before the error happened.

    Backup programs are here
    http://extensions.joomla.org/index.php?option=com_mtree&task=listcats&cat_id=1758&Itemid=35

    I recommend
    joomlapack

this will backup your data base and site and pack it into a nice quickstart style restore package

    or
    joomlacloner

also, BACKUP your MySQL database, just do an export,

retsoring a site from backup takes 10 minutes, debugging what went wrong can take years.

    so

BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP — BACK UP —

    does anyone not understand ????????????

joomlapack makes the backup of database too? i usually download de content using the ftp copying to my hard drive, and, in other way, export database… is this correct? its better use joomlapach? thanks, i am starting…

yes, joomlapack does the database too! and when you use it to restore a backedup site, it works just like a quickstart package

I just want to thank you for introducing me to JoomlaPack.

Not only is it useful as a great back up program…but it also helps people like me who develop a site first on a local host and then use it to load on a actual hosted site !

    Hi MJ,

I was wondering when using JoomlaPack beginners for creating a mirrored site, do I need to create mySQL using the “same” name and pasword as my current site is using?

What I’m doing is backing up my site and database using JoomlaPack on my current host provider, then ftp the Zipped file to a NEW hosting service in the public HTML root and unzipping it throught the Cpanel on the new hosting site.

They said I need to create my database first on my new hosting server . Can I use the same “name” and “password” from my current mySQL database or do I need to create a new name.

    thanks for any help!

    Hi,

I listened to your advice. But when I backup, I have this error – “[090120 01:08:43] CUBE is not initialised “.

May I know how to solve it?

guys if you’re using joomlapack – i don’t think you can schedule the backups so that they get done automatically.

For this, I use LazyBackup. It automatcially backs up your databases on the days and times you want them. I run my backups at midnight every day in case i have a failure – while i’m sleeping – lol.

I also have joomlapack installed but like i said i’m pretty sure it doesn’t do auto backups.

    LazyBackup can be found here:
