November 17, 2011 at 9:38 am #425044It’s difficult to define the reason. But try the following (after every step, check the search)
1. Disable Joomla SEF, as well as any 3rd part SEF components
2. Turn off caching (Joomla core + in template manager enable “Development Mode”)
3. Check in plugins manager which search plugins are enabled (filter by type “search”), if none – enable at least content plugin.
4. Try to switch to another template and check search.1 user says Thank You to gray for this useful post

thanks for your reply
cach and plugins is already check and no problem with them (cash is development mode and all search plugin are enable)
i am not using any 3rd part SEF component
already just I have put favicon and google analystic which seems unrelated to this problem
ONE IMPORTANT POINT : by disable SEF in global config the search start to work partly ,,the search does not work from top page ,but will work properly when search from any other page
I really do not undrestand what is going up
surly I need to be in SEF mode when my site is going to go public in near future
any other sugestion will be really appreciated
with respect

November 17, 2011 at 4:09 pm #425088What do you mean – does not work from top page? On the front page? Do you have a search input box always visible or user need to click on a link to open it?
How does the search url looks like (when you are on the search results page)? When SEF is turned ON it should look like
http://www.yoursite.com/component/search/?searchword=test&searchphrase=all&Itemid=101
where “test” is the word searched for, also Itemid could be different.November 18, 2011 at 1:56 am #425156dear gray
thank you very much for your kind attention
my search box is visible and at the top of my site ,,every body can access easily without any page need to be open
I mean that when SEF is OFF the search from top page of my front end has no result ( search from index.php) but search from another page ,(other than index.php) will bring the result,
when SEF is on the URL of search is just the same as you write ,but no result will appear and despite the url has changed the page will not change
my site URL is as follow you can check ,i am already in SEF ON position
http://persiajutan.com/
your help is really appreciated
with regards

November 18, 2011 at 10:45 am #425211Actually it could happen because of many reasons. I found some thread on Joomla forum reporting the same problem.
Please try assigning another default template (Joomla core templates), set search module on the front page and try to search. If it works (with SEF enabled) problem is caused by the template configuration and/or the framework plugin.November 19, 2011 at 9:39 am #425385dear gray
thanks for your reply
I checked the problem with another template and search work properly while i am in SEF mode ON . but do not work on teline IV ,
it seems you are right and the problem is with template or framework ,,but it is interesting that the search was working properly last

Have you installed some new add-ones since that? Or changed the template’s configuration (new menu items created)? If it worked before and you haven’t installed any new add-ons, it seems that new settings messed up the search results page.1 user says Thank You to gray for this useful post
November 19, 2011 at 1:59 pm #425407dear gray
thanks for you reply
I do not change the template configuration ,but some new menu item i created before and by deleting them nothing do not changed,
for new add-ons installation maybe I tried some add-ons ( maybe 2or3) but they did not fit my need so I deleted them shortly
the only change that might be big for me ,I was working with template with cach ON, so every time you had to clear the cash but 2-3 weeks ago I changed the cach to developer mode and that is all and this time by changing cach mode to previpous ,the problem do not solve also ,,,
dear gray i am not so good in joomla ,actually I am a beginner in it ,and for me one of the most attraction of joomla was having search by default in that and unfortunately it does not work now and i can not realaize what is wrong with that ,,what do you think I should have to do for solving this problem
your help is really appreciated

November 19, 2011 at 2:28 pm #425410Hi Ariya
I looked at your site in your link http://www.zerno.org.ua/ after changing the site to English via the translator i searched on the word export and it found an article with that keyword. So for me the search works, am I misinterpreting your needs or does the search not work in the japanese language? I am unfamiliar with Japanese but is it what we refer to as a RTL right to left language (written?) English is left to right maybe a problem if RTL?Hope this advises

November 19, 2011 at 5:35 pm #425424I checked again and it seems that even not on the main page, search is not returning any HTML code (main content area is empty).
Please go to the template’s back-end and set “Hide Main content block” to “no” (Profile tab) and try to search again.
Also it seems you should have a menu item linked to the “search” (index.php?option=com_search&view=search). If you do have such a menu item, please check modules assigned to this page.November 20, 2011 at 4:44 am #425450dear gray
thanks for your reply
I did not change the ,,hide main content block,, and it is in NO mode already
any other suggestion
with respect
