August 19, 2008 at 6:34 pm #266074I wouldn’t even try, I would delete my site and the databaseand then restore the site and the database from my last good copy
if its really been hacked, who knows what else they have done to it
August 19, 2008 at 6:39 pm #266075I just got it up and running a couple weeks ago and haven’t backed up yet…. ugh
I found this log from my web CP: http://www.zone-h.org/component/option,com_attacks/Itemid,45/
I can restore from the start but how do I prevent it from happening again?

August 19, 2008 at 7:25 pm #266086There are simple rules :
1 – Use strong passwords (Doh!)
2 – Scan your local computer for trojans, viruses, etc.
3 – Make sure you are using the latest components / plugins and update the Joomla core to the latest.
4 – Use .htaccess to secure your folder (Linux) or Firewall + Permissions (Windows)
5 – Ask your host provider to set the expose php to off (for IIS the same with php and use the xmap extension to hide your distro)
6 – Look for security tools for joomla here : LINKAsk your host provider if they had another hacked sites on their servers and if they had, change the provider, as they don’t know how to secure their own servers.
That’s the rules I can think of.

I thank you for your activity on the forum, its nice to get the customer support.FYI
I have seen you suggest the cpanel options many times now, but in reality, not everyone has cpanel. It would be nice of that was the case though, wouldn’t it. Anyway, they may have plesk or worse yet, a proprietary control panel such as, godaddy and 1and1 have. I just wanted to give you a heads up.thanks again
