My website suddenly appears VERY different today when seen in Mozilla or Explorer. The only “major” thing I did since yesterday was to re-instate the small banner (user4). But it works fine with Mozilla but not with Explorer. My user2 and user3 modules are invisible with Explorer, as well as the rest of the page.

Here are the screen shots below.

Thanks very much for your help.

Have you pasted stuff into the module positions/articles from another editor such as word? There appears to be a lot of unneeded code in there that suggests this is the problem. Firefox is more tolerent than IE when it comes to problems such as this so that is why it still works in FF.

Yes, I did paste from word…until I was told to use Notepad. So should I remove all texts and repaste from Notepad? Or is there a “cleaning” program I can use to delete the unneeded code?
    Thank you!

Yes, re-paste it in. There is a paste from word button in the editor you can use if you need to paste from word. It is the little text icon with a w symbol in it.

Sorry to say…it didn’t work for me either. I even removed the small banner.

I used the Notepad because my editor didn’t have the “w” that you mentioned. I have the JCE 1.5.7.4 plug in and it doesn’t include the “w”. See pix below. Is there another editor I should use? I definitely would prefer that because I first have to edit the text in word because of all of the french accents and then paste in notepad.

    Thanks for your help,

There is still stuff there. Did you edit the offending modules and articles?

If you want to PM me your logon I will take a look.

As for the editor, if you use the TinyMCE editor but go into the plugins options you can select the “Extended” menus which will include the paste from word button.

Yep, it was lots of data from pasted in word stuff causing the problem. It seems you managed to get rid of it from your articles but you had some in 3 of the 4 modules you created. For instance I looked ath the module in position user 1 called “Relais de Luynes – Boutique Hotel”

I switched to TinyMCE and enabled Extended mode first so I could see all the required buttons. I then looked at the html of the article with the button of the same name and saw

    <p><!--> <mce:style><! /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-priority:99; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin-top:0in; mso-para-margin-right:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:10.0pt; mso-para-margin-left:0in; line-height:115%; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:11.0pt; font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"; mso-ascii-font-family:Calibri; mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-hansi-font-family:Calibri; mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi;} > <! >Au centre du bourg, dix chambres, soignées, stylisées au décor unique, climatisées, propices au dépaysement et à la détente.<--></p>

When all I should have seen was

Au centre du bourg, dix chambres, soignées, stylisées au décor unique, climatisées, propices au dépaysement et à la détente.

I removed all the unneeded code from this module and another 3 and this appears to have fixed the page. You may need to go through and check anywhere else you have pasted code in as I did not check all modules/articles, only the ones stopping the frontpage from working.

I’ve currently left the editor set as TinyMCE simply so you can see the paste from word button. I’m not sure if JCE has that feature. In TinyMCE to see the actual code you have pasted in, click the “html” button, in JCE you will see a “<>” button.

    Hope that helps.

Your site contains the very same problem. You have pasted from a wordprocessor into your article “How to prepare interior walls for paint”. If you view the source for your site look around line 651 and you will see all that code. Look at the article in your editor and press the html button and you will also see al the code you have pasted in. Until you get rid of this code your site will crash as you have seen.

I hate to bring this up again, but I’m having same problem again.

All I did in this case was to “disable” some modules and “unpublish” all of the sub-menus.

Works fine with Mozilla and Safari; but in IExplorer, everything below the small banner cannot be seen.

    Thanks again for your help,

Your small banner was also cut and pasted from word. As I said in my previous post, please go through all of the modules and check the html there to see which contain extra html. Any <IF> <ENDIF> marks mean something you don’t need has been pasted in.

I’ve edited the module in question for you but not been through the rest.
