    Hello Joomlart staff and members.

I am working with an elderly man who is into native spiritual stuff. I helped him create a site last year for next to nothing and he loved it. Over the past year he keeps adding to it and now it does not look nothing like the site I created. It is a cluster F$%# and I keep telling him it needs to be tidy.

I have finally been able to talk him to upgrading to 1.5 and a new layout but he feels his old site does better for rankings as the way it is layed out. I keep telling him it is how we have the SEO [meta-tags] etc that determine that.

What else can I recommend to him to assure him? He is 76 so maybe change is something he does not like?

    Here is his old site

    His new site

Site is not complete but gives you the navigation idea and you can see how much cleaner it is.

I have used Phoca Documentation to tidy it up as his page titles are a mile long as you will see.

    Any feedback would be great.

    🙂

    in my opinion:

    – turn off icons pdf, print etc.
    – put a wrapper for all the content, it can be with rounded corners and some shadow
    – only black for background in my opinion is too dark..
    – reduce the pathway wrapper

🙂 these are my opinions.. only opinions! 🙂

The new one looks a bit too dark? I prefer the old one too, it has more structure to it, and shows a lot more information on the page.

So you like the featured articles at the bottom where it shows some intro text?

Easy fix…Let me know as site was just started yesterday and have another couple days of playing with it.

    Thanks,:D

visual wise i think the old one is better, because the fading background etc it just looks more spirtual and mystical.
But that should be easy to add to the new one.

In my opinion the featured articles add something usefull to the front page, but they just need some cleaning up so it looks a bit tidy.

Agree in removing some of the buttons (you can consider keeping the pdf button)

In overall i think the new one is just tuned down too much, its good to tidy it but keep in mind the articles give a site some body so nothing wrong in using them.

Will start to implement some suggestions so far in the next hour or so. Finishing off another site.

    Thanks good advice…:)

I prefer the old site too, the featured articles would probably look better in a single column, one on top of the other. That would tidy up the bottom part.

    Cheers,

    Hi James

Having looked at your latest project I can not help but think that the layout of the site you are doing is screaming out for Teline II

You could add an image to each headling or story and section them off so much better in that template

    Just a thought mate 😉

I will send him the link to see what he thinks. He wants a black or dark background that is a must. But that is an easy fix.

    Thanks,:)
